@intransitivelie Vincent Price did a number of low-budget monster movies, and I have to admit I'm not sure which one it was. I /think/ it may have been "The Monster Club" - an author(?) of horror stories is invited to meet the real thing, and that was used to frame an anthology of several horror shorts.
I haven't seen it in years, so my memory of much of the story is fuzzy at best.
