Okay, blown away. Greg and I just watched a movie on Netflix called Falling for Figaro. It's a romantic comedy and the two main characters don't have a lot of chemistry, but the opera singing is truly beautiful (we actually watched a couple scenes over). The thing that blew me away - actually distracted me so much I even missed a few lines - was that the main character, Millie, is fat, and the portrayal of her is just wildly positive, I can't get over it. She has (not explicit) love scenes with both guys. It's realistic and normal. Both guys are very happy to be with her. Her body shape is never commented on, not once, not one single time. She is seen JOGGING! It's normal! There's nothing made to be odd about it. She's very pretty, but in a realistic way, not in the way where it's like, "We're letting you be seen as pretty but only because you have the face of a supermodel." Her romantic issues are about normal things <cont. ---> As in, her conflicts are about regular issues of compatibility, at no point is her body the subject or concern of any of these entanglements. I'm just....in awe. I've never seen a movie with a woman main character who is a friendly potato who gets love (twice!) and OH OH - she also unapologetically pursues her dreams AND IS NOT PUNISHED FOR IT. Yeah hi my inner fat teenager whose self-esteem was bludgeoned by Hollywood in the 90's would like twenty more of these movies. ASAP. @hollie ive def seen this actor before and like them a lot, loving the vibes so far. @hollie it was super cute and swoony and good songs. very glad they didn't have any fatphobia shit. |

We got done with the movie and I'm shrieking about all this and Greg is just laughing.
She's apple-shaped! LIKE ME! Usually fat women are only deemed okay if their figure it hourglass shaped. Millie, like myself, is shaped like what I call, "a friendly potato," which I said once when Jupes was commenting on how they inherited their shape from me and they loved it so much we kept it.
