I'm being flippant obviously, but it really does seem like Windows is an exercise in seeing how far they can push the crapness without people jumping ship. @guffo @gamingonlinux That's the whole process of enshitification in a nutshell. Unfortunately.   @crampi @gamingonlinux I used to have a Windows partition for a couple of games I couldn't get working on Linux but EVERYTHING I want to play works in Proton now. It is the best of times! I remember when your options for gaming on Linux were: Quake 3 Arena, Neverwinter Nights, Alpha Centauri, and Tux Racer. |
@guffo @gamingonlinux For most, i assume it's the only thing they know, plus they don't know how to install Linux, since the vast majority of PCs come with Windows installed, and most software they use is Windows-only or Windows-first.
Meaning you have A LOT of people that just think it's normal, think it's not normal but can't do anything about it, or want to do something about it but don't know how.
And of course it doesn't help that Apple is the same or worse, and the amount of FUD being thrown around about Linux for the desktop is just obscene.
