That's some truly classy PR from Playton. I put up an X/Twitter poll about interest in the web3 blockchain handheld that's going to use their OS...their reply was...

Playtron say "Correct. Liam is having a conniption fit for no reason."

@gamingonlinux some of these tweets are bangers tho.
"The idea of an open operating system is interesting"

Do they know it's not an idea but a thing?

@gamingonlinux The more I hear about this company the less I think the Playtron will ever become *a thing*.

@gamingonlinux I don't trust them to make the software correctly, if they ever do release it. Actually, I just don't trust them at all.

@gamingonlinux A generated artwork with a generated concept … by degenerate people :awesome:

@gamingonlinux oh yes... "The future is an open gaming OS". Not your "Linux" stuff...

@gamingonlinux Adding crypto to gaming can be interesting, but the way it's told and how the device looks is just not it.
Seeing their trailer and marketing, even as someone who believe in crypto, I would not trust that project: "web 2 and web3 games" and "blockchain device" is nothing else than absolute bullshit marketing that makes absolutely no sense.

Cogito ergo mecagoendios

@gamingonlinux This reminds me of a saying about anti-woke twiiter trolls: "even if they are replying to you, they are not having a conversation with you". They have no interest in convincing you or being convinced. They run a for-profit personality cult around the image of 'owning the libs' and whatever they are writing AT you is actually a performative act of aggression they are staging FOR their audience. It's very telling, if not surprising, that crypto intersects with this phenomenon.

@gamingonlinux crypto - searching for a problem to be the solution for since 2010...

@gamingonlinux They keep using that word, I don't think it means what they think it means.

At least I'm ending the day on a laugh 🤣

@gamingonlinux
Ah yes, my dedicated monopoly money wallet + handheld game console. It'll be a great compliment to my dedicated washing machine + toothpaste dispenser.

Narcogen

@gamingonlinux Bonkers nonsense. No part of “open gaming OS” requires or is compatible with blockchain BS.

@gamingonlinux still haven’t heard a single use case where “web3” is actually better than the existing process or technique.

@gamingonlinux Shh!!! Stop tryna call out their obvious scam! You'll *ruin* their rugpull plans!

TruckStopSantaClaus

@gamingonlinux I'm grabbing popcorn and a beer for this :KEKW:

@gamingonlinux now that it is clear that it's going to be completely dead on arrival, I just want to know if it's going to be a "vague strike" incident

@gamingonlinux I am not even a little bit shocked

If you know your Android history, the CEO of Playtron is the same guy who was CEO of CyanogenMod Inc (Cyngn), Kirt McMaster, and ran them into the ground. I should know, I worked there until I was fired illegally, sued, and won a settlement.

Guy made horrible business agreements, hired awful leadership, pivoted the company away from a truly brilliant idea after working in it for a long time, to focus on monetizing themes, etc.

Note that this was the CEO, not the creator and CTO, the eponymous Cyanogen.
