@monospace @popey @nixCraft having bought my T480 last year, itβs not even close, even after full upgrades π @nixCraft You can't get an appointment anyway, so old Thinkpad and Arch it is xD @nixCraft got a T420 I got for cheap 6 years ago running Arch like a boss. That would have been two therapist visits at a maximum. I count this as an absolute win. @nixCraft if you bother to install arch Linux, then probably you'll be interested in stali, too: https://sta.li @nixCraft I will never use a thinkpad because the fn key is swapped with the ctrl key
that's enough to absolutely kill the vibe @nixCraft Having used both I can confidently say that the laptop at least works. @nixCraft @nixCraft that's because if they're in USA, "buy used thinkpad and install Arch Linux" actually has the tendency to be MORE PRODUCTIVE (and actually affordable) than dealing with USA's "mental health system". (I say that realizing the OP was a joke, but the mental heath system here really does need reform ;o) @nixCraft Agree. Linux From Scratch is even better. Like Sheldon Cooper said, re-installing your favorite OS is very relaxing π @nixCraft *closes ebay tabs* Nooooo how dare you call, *ahem* someone else out like thisss π @nixCraft who needs real life therapy when Emacs, with its included Doctor, is such an easy install? /s I saw this and immediately thought "Hey, I could use a decent thinkpad, I wonder what used ones are going for?". @nixCraft @nixCraft omg lol i spent years installing/reinstalling arch on laptop, desktop, anywhere i couldβ¦ What was i working through?? @nixCraft just an fyi, Fastfetch is an awesome alternative to Neofetch that runs quite a bit quicker: https://github.com/fastfetch-cli/fastfetch Congrats on the new computer! I've heard Thinkpads are great! |
@nixCraft i know... I also consider Void Linux.
