@popey @nixCraft I spent much more on therapy than on the T480 I ordered for my 11yo yesterday.

Chris Colvin :blobcat:

@monospace @popey @nixCraft having bought my T480 last year, it’s not even close, even after full upgrades πŸ˜…

Steve H πŸ’Ύ

@nixCraft how to @ somebody without @'ing somebody. How dare you! 🀣

nixCraft 🐧

@steveh @nixCraft sometimes i make confessions about myself but turns out i am not alone πŸ˜‚

Shikaka

@nixCraft I do both. I need therapy after each arch linux session.

Shikaka

@ZombieRasputin @nixCraft and my dependency management team doesn't help make it feel better

deedend :arch: :debian:

@nixCraft
I did the exact same thing on my T480... πŸ˜…

DELETED

@nixCraft Reported: I’m in this picture and I don’t like it.

Chumchum Tumtum

@pecet @nixCraft are you referencing the "Install Gentoo" button? I still laugh about that, regularly

nixCraft 🐧

this is still cheaper. do you know how much therapist cost? πŸ˜…πŸ˜

DesRoin :fullstacklive:

@nixCraft You can't get an appointment anyway, so old Thinkpad and Arch it is xD

Shikaka

@nixCraft true. I do see how much my two bill the VA weekly I'm just glad it's covered.

thedoctor

@nixCraft Depending on where you live and what kind of therapist anywhere between a crippling amount and nothing.

Unlogic

@nixCraft also you can’t say β€œI run Arch” if you see a therapist. Unless you do both.

DELETED

@nixCraft i’ve gone seen one he removed everything i had … i had 500 buks 😹

Paulvanderbeek

@nixCraft It's cheaper and would definitely make me feel a lot better than therapy

Golden Star

@nixCraft try not to neofetch challenge
level: impossible

Eduardo Padoan β˜•

@nixCraft I'm almost doing the same except s/arch linux/haiku/

Kotaro

@nixCraft Lenovo should pre-install Linux on ThinkPads and sell them in dual-boot versions. They should stop making only new products and make money from official repair services.

Quelqu'un

@nixCraft I needed to flash libreboot on my x200 during some difficult time 9years ago. That plus the install of Parabola Linux... Still using the same ! I did not need further therapy since :)

DELETED

@nixCraft We should try to apply for a reimbursement form the insurance company :nko_giggle:

ThinkPads are definitely therapeutic :neocat_floof:

unixjunk1e 🌡

@nixCraft Does this make Manjaro the "Better Help" option?

Devpapa

@nixCraft You've got Arch on a Thinkpad, what other therapy do you need?

mikatonteri

@nixCraft got a T420 I got for cheap 6 years ago running Arch like a boss. That would have been two therapist visits at a maximum. I count this as an absolute win.

Q. Edwards

@nixCraft True. I go to therapy and I run Pop!_OS on a desktop.

afrangry

@nixCraft if you bother to install arch Linux, then probably you'll be interested in stali, too: sta.li

Miss adderal girl
@nixCraft I will never use a thinkpad because the fn key is swapped with the ctrl key
that's enough to absolutely kill the vibe
Martin

@nixCraft
OMG!
There is a therapy for this?
#linux
(Mint/Ubuntu/ debian)

Natasha Nox πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ

@nixCraft Having used both I can confidently say that the laptop at least works.

SiliconFarmer

@nixCraft
All the therapists in my area have no availability.
I have ThinkPads in the office, living room, and bedroom.
I think I need another in the kitchen.

Ben

@nixCraft

instead of Arch i put openSUSE Tumbleweed on the Lenovo thinkpad, its just perfect. ;-)

yakkoj 🦊

@nixCraft that's because if they're in USA, "buy used thinkpad and install Arch Linux" actually has the tendency to be MORE PRODUCTIVE (and actually affordable) than dealing with USA's "mental health system".

(I say that realizing the OP was a joke, but the mental heath system here really does need reform ;o)

Jiovanni

@nixCraft tried that one with FreeBSD, didn’t go so smooth.
It was therapeutic though 🀣

mmu_man

@nixCraft *and* replace the crappy chiclet keyboard with the proper model, and patch the embedded controller to fix the keys…

Jaap van Vliet πŸ‡³πŸ‡±πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί

@nixCraft Agree. Linux From Scratch is even better.

Like Sheldon Cooper said, re-installing your favorite OS is very relaxing 😎

drmorr

@nixCraft look I don't know who you are or why you're stalking me but I'd like you to stop 🀣

Marcel Bischoff

@nixCraft I can imagine this to be true – and it's not even a tiny bit funny.

OpenComputeDesign

@nixCraft *closes ebay tabs* Nooooo how dare you call, *ahem* someone else out like thisss 😭

Scott Williams 🐧

@nixCraft I went to therapy, which is why I install Fedora on mine πŸ˜„

Max Almonte

@nixCraft damn, I was literally thinking doing this recently 😢

Neblib

@nixCraft who needs real life therapy when Emacs, with its included Doctor, is such an easy install? /s

Stephan Witz

@nixCraft

I saw this and immediately thought "Hey, I could use a decent thinkpad, I wonder what used ones are going for?".

Ponder Stibbons πŸ‡§πŸ‡·πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

@nixCraft
It is way more irrational to not buy a used think pad and not install Arch or NixOs on it... So maybe... the _others_ should go to therapy!

maddiedrake (she/her)

@nixCraft omg lol i spent years installing/reinstalling arch on laptop, desktop, anywhere i could… What was i working through??

BiggestBulb πŸ’‘πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ§‘β€πŸ’»

@nixCraft just an fyi, Fastfetch is an awesome alternative to Neofetch that runs quite a bit quicker: github.com/fastfetch-cli/fastf

Congrats on the new computer! I've heard Thinkpads are great!
