At this stage I think there are actually less than 10 people in the world who want to run the X.org foundation. It's time for another election and they don't have enough nominations again, last time people who wanted to continue basically just got cycled back in and I expect the same to happen again.

Keep in mind X.org foundation isn't just X.org, Wayland, mesa and libinput are also under this banner

@BrodieOnLinux i think the name "X.org" misleads people to think it's just X11, even though that very much isnt the case.

@krafter@fosstodon.org @BrodieOnLinux@linuxrocks.online tbh they probably should have called Wayland "X12" or something, but I imagine that would have its own set of problems too

I should do it. Why vote for the lesser evil ?

@BrodieOnLinux Then it seems like some Wayland folks should want to be on the board. And maybe they could work on a rebrand

@thelinuxcast Would you want to be involved in the leadership of of that project. I don't know if any sane person would

@BrodieOnLinux Probably not, but then the Wayland project should divorce itself. If they're going to be a part of it, or a successor to it as a part of it, then they should take responsibility for it. Either as the successor, they need to take over or they need to get out of it and be the next thing on their own.

@thelinuxcast @BrodieOnLinux maybe it is time for me to join. I did some insane pivots in life before 😂

@nicemicro @thelinuxcast Last year just some random Trisquel user ran and got some votes, he was in last place but still

@BrodieOnLinux maybe they should rebrand to the freedesktop foundation. Or does that exist already?
