@polotek i think the main issue is its an opt out instead of opt in solution

for search and big corp integrations that seems to be the crux od the issue

from my perspective i agree opt out is bad and probably ok for people to shame others for doing it(peeping tom maybe an irl correlary)

but I think Activity Pub needs to either be real and acknowledge to users that AP is fairly insecure and using it as private messaging vs. highly scrappable

or actually harden DMs and followers only posts
