 bird.makeup is a cool service, it lets me subscribe to cool people on the un-cool network (twitter) while staying on my cool network and sharing with the people on my cool network :blobcatthumbsup: it does not let them see me, but it lets me see them, which is kind of a big deal considering twitter is blocked in my region both by my country and twitter itself. means i dont have to keep a VPN permanently on 7 comments
@gravitos Yeah, but I don't like that they're scraped without consent. If bird.makeup would send Twitter users a message saying "hey this person wants to follow you, may we mirror your posts so that they can see them?" it would be super cool. @just_a_rock This is Twitter we're talking about. The answer is "NO". @gravitos If the user's answer is going to be "no", then don't do it. Consent is important. @gravitos We're talking about the user, not the platform. Just because the platform is evil & doesn't ask for consent doesn't mean we also get to be evil & not ask for consent. |
