@nixCraft hey! Not all of us are smelly.

Well, sometimes I am.

@nixCraft Just to fuck with him, his download should be preceded with a LeetCode question.

@nixCraft LOL... he is specifically crying about a CLI tool in python. I somehow doubt the exe will help him at all...

@nixCraft Developing would be so much easier if it wasn't for the users ๐Ÿ˜‡

I have the urge to build an .exe file that only displays a window with the text "No!" and provide it in a repo for linking.
So every project could provide a link with this exe as an answer to such an arrogant request.

@nixCraft I'll get right on turning that python script into a .exe, BRB

@nixCraft As someone who hasn't compiled shit in 25 years, I know that frustration.

Do y'all stream new songs, or do you just look up the sheet music?

@nixCraft

Note that rudeness apart, I've very often had people directing me to find the software on their github page, and then when going there not being able to find the executable.

It's nice to make free software and it entails no obligation to you, but when you invite people to your github page you probably should make this page clear enough that people could find what you promised them.

Sascha

@nixCraft oh, reminds me, i should shower again!

@nixCraft How to identify people that shouldn't be running software that can find people's accounts by username across the internet...

@nixCraft
This raging diaperbaby is correct. GitHub is where to go when you want to learn GitHub. But for some reason people send you there to get software.

Simon Lucy

@nixCraft

If it's just Python then it can be wrapped as an exe with all dependencies. It isn't an unreasonable request even if expressed unreasonably.

Smelly cookies, for special people? ๐Ÿ˜‹

Exa :calim:

@nixCraft Even as a developer I'd say they should have made a setup.py or a pyproject.toml since it's a Python program, but they don't have any of these.

Ceremus

@nixCraft Textbook example of why you don't steer end users to a Github page. Github may be great for tech people and devs organizing a project, but the UI/UX is possibly the worst fscking thing for any regular person who doesn't know how to navigate Github.

Make a separate project page and put your binary releases on it for those people. If you're putting out software for end-users, you have to understand that audience.
