@GossiTheDog Ok, I'll give this a go in the interests of science...

@GossiTheDog i used to have an additional account on linkedln for such experiments (Tiananmen works in China like Katyn on Russia)

@GossiTheDog thanks for the heads up, just updated my Mastodon profile.

@GossiTheDog Damn can I do something similar for India to get all the fake recruiters to piss off?

@GossiTheDog I love how the email is very specifically worded to imply that they know you probably did it intentionally and you can choose to leave it that way if you want.

@GossiTheDog "Dalai Lama" ought to work as well. That man freaks them out.

@GossiTheDog Hmm, wonder if there's similar Roskomnadzor banned links or terms for Russia? Doubt it would be as effective but hey, might cut down some low effort attempts

@GossiTheDog I did something similar with the headers on my webserver. This blacks me out for the majority of the baddies on the internet, or at least gets their jimmies rustled up

@GossiTheDog Lol I hope something catastrophic happens to that country and we can be rid of this overbearing bullshit that controls every market in the world

Oh, I saw this on someone who was being harassed on an online videogame. If you just say it in chat they get booted as their internet gets automatically cut.

Since it's automatic, I imagine they dont let the packet go through. So I wonder if they even know WHY they got booted xD.

@GossiTheDog @tim_lavoie man this is so much better than blocking my former Hong Kong colleagues

@GossiTheDog Good idea. I setup a copy of the entire Wikipedia article about it years ago on certain servers. It will only come up if you use an IP address instead of a DNS name. A replacement for the "It works" Apache page, basically..

@GossiTheDog I just tried, doesn't seem to be an option.

This might be a good idea for all publications; include Tiananmen Square and this:

https://plusnigger.org/

The first uses trigger words for the CCP, the second for the USA.

It keeps both superpower wannabes out of your stuff.

@GossiTheDog I have Tiananmen Square in the HELO of my MX.
Works there too.

sokrates

@nblr @GossiTheDog 🤔 Wonderful idea 🥰 on the list 👍

~n

@sokrates @GossiTheDog Makes it hard though to e.g. source parts from china. qq‘s MXes don’t want to talk to me ever again, even with that line removed.

@GossiTheDog
OTOH, this might become an issue if your employer works with chinese companies, and you're part of that.
Also, China is really paranoid about that. Try typing Tiananmen Square in the chatbox of a chinese-made ("free-to-play" money-siphoning) game..

Dave

@GossiTheDog I mean ... I'd actually be thrilled by seeing a genuine phishing attempt. So far nothing, just heaps of recruiter spam.

@GossiTheDog Also adding "Taiwanese" as Language or "Taiwan" as favorite cuisine / tourism destination may also work... ^^

@GossiTheDog
And what if you don't want be phished via people in India?
"Modi"?
