Signal Will Leave the UK Rather Than Add a Backdoor - Schneier on Security |
@madcap good and sad at the same time
@madcap Is this the same Signal which keeps badgering me to give it access to my contacts with their "not now" dark pattern? Or is it the Signal that seemingly every time I go to use it, refuses to send messages and demands I download a newer version? You know, the huge download that uses as much mobile data as I normally use in two months? It would be understandable if there was a 0-day exploit, but no, it's a minor display localisation bug plus a bit of a redesign to make them look busy.
Anyway, the last time I tried to use Signal, I ended using SMS instead because the app was having its usual sulk about having "expired". Because apparently Signal care more about ensuring the integrity of the corporate branding on their app than of communications.
