Mastohost @mastohost is taking on new accounts again. You can get your own Mastodon server for $6 a month! The great thing about it is they take care of the software, you do not need to be technical to run a server. Mastohost is where sauropods.win is hosted, and I can recommend them. Support is top-notch, and it's all been smooth sailing.

@john @mastohost realistic question is how many people can you even host on $6/mo, storage, etc?

@john @mastohost Can you choose the instance software/fork and stuff like that?

You know, I'm starting to think we should defederate this "Twitter" instance, its Admin is a real jerk.

For no apparent reason, I made this alternative #Mastodon logo. I think it was created out of my burning conviction that logos should all be visual puns, and the more puns the better. So here it is, the head is a speech bubble AND the body is an "M". Puneriffic!

Actually what I want is a #Fediverse logo that works in B&W and small sizes. The current one look nice enough big, but fails on both those counts.

Big rumblings in the expansion of the #Fediverse have been happening recently. #Tumblr has already promised to implement #ActivityPub (the protocol Mastodon uses), which will mean you can follow Tumblr accounts from here and vice versa. And today we a learning that #Flickr is also considering it! This will be a massive expansion, which obviously carries some uncertainties, but I, for one, welcome our new federation partners. This is the way the internet is supposed to work.
