Antheraea polyphemus like to use my backyard for a breeding ground and I'm always happy to see them. They are large (wingspan 6" or 15cm) compared to most of the critters around here.

Two Giant Silk Moths resting on a patch of bare earth scattered with dried maple seeds and old twigs. The large ( wingspan 6" or 15cm) brown moths have four distinct spots that roughly resemble eyes on their wings.
