I've wrote a small script to open/close registrations on #Mastodon servers based on user count so that smaller servers can better cope with the current load.
You'll need to make some changes to the script (editing the limits) and most likely also want to use https://codeberg.org/Windfluechter/cleanup-mastodon-users.sh to automatically remove inactive accounts on your site to reduce the user count again

@ij Is it possible to make the cleanup work only with unactivated accounts. I find loads of them in my database but don't want to get rid of the old accounts @Codeberg
