happy sad halloween season to those who celebrate my brother just sent me this link and it's rad as hell https://criticalcommons.org/view?m=T2ZJhXBAn “the new apple watch has a speaker to play any audio!” ok but i’ve had this shortcut for roughly half a decade now  they won't open source UIKit because they know the people will revolt when its revealed that UIImage is just a UICollectionView with one cell per pixel i would love to be proven wrong but they have to open source UIKit. that's the deal, it's legally binding  @samhenrigold wait until you hear about UICollectionViewListImageCellLabelConfiguration’s true identity  I vaguely remember that at least on macOS, NSCollectionView is relatively new and NSImageView existed approximately forever alright new rule: if i get an envelope with a logo on it, it’s going in the recycling bin. it it’s important, it’ll affect my credit score. up until that point, i’ll spare my letter opener the trouble still blows my mind that you Americans have ads come in real envelopes delivered by USPS and not some guy going around sticking leaflets into mailboxes  @samhenrigold the #1 rule of important mail is that if the envelope says “IMPORTANT” it’s definitely not Anything that’s actually important (like, say, if the bank has to send you a new debit card) is purposefully mailed discretely today's game was Thank Goodness You’re Here. bought it on the switch, spent a very enjoyable afternoon with it. it's fun and manic and riddled with little easter eggs in the scenes and Matt Berry is wonderful in it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-Vyg4J6RBU @samhenrigold I think I had a dream about this game last night, and I've never played it nor watched gameplay footage of it at this size i really thought the Cold and Flu icon was someone holding their own lower back while projective vomiting  @samhenrigold even after I zoomed in I had to stare at it for too long to figure out what it was.

  @paulrickards Fun fact: this picture was taken while the lights were off; that’s how good that glow in the dark material is. has enough time passed for us to acknowledge that this was a REALLY weird demo for him to do?  sipping tequilas, rubbing alcohol, mixing bourbons, this is all just too much to keep track of. do whatever you want with whatever you have. i just played A Short Hike for the first time today, went in totally blind. my god that was such a cute game, i kinda teared up at the end

 @samhenrigold it’s so good. I love the dialog and sometimes I like to just fire up a game to soar around the landscape  @samhenrigold I love making people play it (run time is so short this is possible) and watching their emotions  Update on the #NotebookLM podcast thing. I fed it like 10 blank text files containing nothing but a zero-width space and it started yapping about the black death and one of the hosts mentioned wanting to quit the podcasting profession.  @samhenrigold if my producers gave me 10 blank sheets as “show notes” and pressed “go live” I’d react the same ngl There’s this Google product, NotebookLM, where you dump text files into it and you can ask questions to it. they just rolled out a feature to generate a “podcast” based on the source material. I piped out 100,000 characters of /dev/urandom, encoded it as binary in a text file, titled them all “patent.txt” and gave it to a notebook. It just goes off the rails and they hallucinate a conspiratorial yap sesh for 10 minutes.

 @samhenrigold the last thing I needed in college was better grades, but I can't help but feel this technology would have helped me be…even better-er   What an insane waste of resources. Have they found an actual good use for these things yet? Or is it another solution looking for a problem.
