Is it so much to ask for other journalists to like...take 5 minutes to check what they do?
PCGamesN just put this up...seemingly not checking the dates of the survey. They used a *year old* survey.

@gamingonlinux people make games is in my opinion one of the best journalist/documentarists when it comes to the industry of gamedev. NVIDIA Vulkan Beta Driver 525.47.06 out now https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/01/nvidia-vulkan-beta-driver-525-47-06-out-now/ Atari announce another 80s classic revival with Caverns of Mars: Recharged https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/01/atari-80s-classic-revival-caverns-of-mars-recharged/ Lots more EA games get a Steam Deck Playable rating https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/01/more-ea-games-steam-deck-playable/ @gamingonlinux I should really consider migrating the Origin integration in Lutris to the EA App. I have a lot of the games listed here working fine on Linux desktop with Origin but tbh, I haven't even tried the EA App yet! ControllerTools plugin for Steam Deck now gives low battery notifications

@gamingonlinux ok up until now most of the plugins ive been seeing are neat but not lifechanging enough for me to go and install deckyloader, but i think this is the one that's gonna push me into doing it lol. having my controllers die without notice is so annoying @gamingonlinux Hmm do you think valve will ever officially implement a plugin system? love the work everyone has put in so far, but i really wish there was a more stable official way to write a plugin :( Factorio is about to increase in price so be quick (and it never goes on sale either!) https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/01/factorio-is-about-to-increase-in-price-so-be-quick/

@gamingonlinux As amazing as this game is, itโs very strange they are raising the price on a game that has been released for so many years. If they were trying to get more cash flow after hitting a market saturation of sorts, this is not the way to go about it.
[DATA EXPUNGED]
@gamingonlinux I have played the demo, but in my opinion Satisfactory and its 3D prospective are way better (and it is now on sale on steam). The only thing that I dont like in satisfactory in comparison with Factorio is the lack of pollution meter and animals attacks in reaction to that. Steam and Steam Deck Beta add the ability to move the on-screen keyboard The article on Forspoken was updated, as Valve are now forcing the Steam Deck spoof for Desktop Linux https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/01/forspoken-desktop-linux-spoof-steam-deck/ Ghost Recon Breakpoint article on Steam Deck and Linux desktop UPDATED to include a partial fix for Desktop Linux resolution problems https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/01/fix-ghost-recon-breakpoint-on-steam-deck/ Forspoken needs desktop Linux to spoof being a Steam Deck to work https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/01/forspoken-desktop-linux-spoof-steam-deck/

@gamingonlinux I switched to my Windows partition since I couldn't even change graphics settings on Linux, and it's honestly pretty janky on W10 too. I'm curious if/how much Linux support will improve as they inevitably start patching in the coming weeks. @gamingonlinux That's a new one, but I can't say I wasn't expecting this to happen at some point lol Direct3D to Vulkan translation layer DXVK 2.1 adds HDR support, improves shader stutter

@gamingonlinux my favorite one was a headhunter contacting me about a "perfect fit" job opening, but they switched companies like 4 times in their clearly too-copy-pasted email lol @gamingonlinux Ah yes %name, the cousin to Little Bobby Tables we don't really talk about much Apparently #Forspoken has Steam Deck specific code paths that make it work on Steam Deck but not Linux desktop ๐ฉ

@gamingonlinux Is this the first time it has happened? I can't recall another case where "steam deck optimizations" wasn't just graphical settings. ๐คฃ๐คฃ power saving modes are a โwokeโ thing to push climate agenda on kids, apparently. You couldnโt make this up if you tried, Fox are a complete disgrace. I continue to believe anyone using โwokeโ like this are a complete total moron.

@gamingonlinux I used to play on the Xbox 360 a lot when I was a kid. The one thing I liked about it was the fact I could forget about the world around me when I was playing. This is an opportunity to hack and remove these features from the new consoles that are coming out. I am aware that some people can mod their Xbox so they can play pirated games. It cant be that hard to remove any restrictions such as a slow boot up time. I sure do LOVE being locked out of a game thanks to Denuvo Anti-Tamper, said no one ever. I really dislike Denuvo.

@gamingonlinux @gamingonlinux: I've refused on principle to buy, install or receive for free any game with Denuvo on it until such time as it is removed. I've missed out on a few games I'd like to play, but I got burnt before by SecuROM and Denuvo's a lineal descendant of that. I'd wait some more. @gamingonlinux Whenever I see this screenshot I get all excited for some news on FTL. Damn conditioning! ๐ |
@gamingonlinux PCGamesN hasn't been the best in terms of information validation.
I ended up being used as a source for potential release dates for a project I was a backend dev on at the time, because I replied to an inquiry with a 'I don't know' and a pointing of then towards the person who was our actual PR point.
@gamingonlinux
@gamingonlinux to be fair, and with all due respect, theyre destroying their profession. It goes on not only in Gaming/Tech news, but also on almost every type of journalism. There are a lot of good, objective, respectful journalists in the world, but it appears those who get the 15 minutes of tv/radio/newsite fame are never part of that group...
