Dead Space on Steam Deck is not good right now. Valve put up an "initial" shader cache, but it doesn't solve a lot of the other issues, like the map crashing the game that some other creators somehow entirely missed telling you.

I do have to wonder what Dead Space is doing with its rendering. Just sitting on the main menu on Steam Deck shows it going wild all over the place below 30 and up to 40 and constantly changing. How can a main menu perform so bad? ๐Ÿซ

@gamingonlinux I know the game completely loads your latest save so it can throw you in immediately when you hit Continue. Might have something to do with that

@gamingonlinux itโ€™s stutters a bunch but itโ€™s playable

@gamingonlinux Sad to hear. I missed Deadspace back in the day due to not having a computer that could run it (so have had it backlogged for awhile), and now I might miss the remake for a similar reason ๐Ÿ™ƒ.

@gamingonlinux Sounds about right, the original games were a mess as well, especially the first one, I'm amazed it ran on consoles.

When I see others imitate bits of what I do and they do it better:

Judeau

@gamingonlinux That's awesome, man! Humble people are good people!

Sylver W. Poulsen

@gamingonlinux I love when people are like this.
It is also one of my favourite bits about proper scientists, because they celebrate being proven wrong as much as right, because it means that things have progressed.

I asked someone in my YouTube channel comments not to bring childish console fanatic antics to my channel and to take it elsewhere.

It went as well as you might expect.

Yes, it is I, your favourite low end content creator.

@gamingonlinux But without fanatic antics how will I point out how much better I was as 90s Nintendo kid instead of an impoverished Sega kid

@gamingonlinux In fairness, Linux runs well on low-end devices. Embrace the #LowEnd

@gamingonlinux Finally.I was able to play it once via the Ubisoft Launcher thingy on Lutris, but since then it just refuses to connect to the servers (Internet says using a VPN fixes this, lol). I hope the Steam release works better.

@gamingonlinux I wouldnโ€™t play this game. To keep it profitable Ubisoft has put in software much like on Facebook that tracks what you do and maybe even what you say so it can show you personalized ads on screen. I deleted this from my pc and completely changed hard drives. Itโ€™s bad enough itโ€™s on my phone

@gamingonlinux Well, it's *been* on Steam once, and I'm currently playing it through Bottles on Steam Deck flawlessly :-p

@gamingonlinux I didn't even know about this game until yesterday before the launch lol. It looks fun like Sunset Overdrive almost.

@gamingonlinux canโ€™t wait to try it out. I added it to my wishlist. Iโ€™m currently playing through Persona 4 on my Steam Deck with the Stadia Controller. Itโ€™s great.

Maksym Hazevych :abloblamp:

@gamingonlinux that's nuts, right? Like, that's the same SDK they use. And the docs are looking good. I wonder if it'll run on Linux, but I own Metro at PS4, so whatever.

P.S. I'll probably buy it again in Steam sometime in future. Long future that is.

@gamingonlinux Cool! I wish more game studios did this with their old unsupported titles.

IMO companies should be legally obligated to release the source code for software they no longer support.

@gamingonlinux I spent hours on M&M 3, 4 and 5. I tried the later releases, too, but never enjoyed them that much.

ilmull

@gamingonlinux Had no idea this project existed. Cool!
