My article on the recent Proton Hotfix and Proton Experimental changes was updated to note two more Proton Experimental fixes for launcher problems on Steam Deck / Linux Article on Ubisoft Connect breaking on Linux / Steam Deck was updated again, as Proton Experimental proper landed a fix. https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/02/ubisoft-broke-their-games-on-linux-desktop-and-steam-deck/ The article on Ubisoft Connect breaking on Linux / Steam Deck was updated with a workaround: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/02/ubisoft-broke-their-games-on-linux-desktop-and-steam-deck/ @gamingonlinux @gamingonlinux saw your article (and posts in Reddit) and I have to ask if you have any inputs/ideas on what other problems may arise at using the experimental proton? Thanks. @gamingonlinux Valve needs to allow users to filter out games with Launchers. I don't want to buy games that have a Launcher. @gamingonlinux Hanlon's Razor does come into effect, but I've not seen a huge amount of evidence to suggest that you are "very quick to pretend that breakage is malicious". I have seen, "really fucking sucks" enough that someone might think that it's the same thing. It does suck. There have been some games I want to play on my Linux box, that I've not managed to be able to. One, I think it's "anti-cheat" making it not work. And another... For some reason mods don't work (not a need). @gamingonlinux These were the most popular Steam Deck games for January 2023 https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/02/most-popular-steam-deck-games-january-2023/ #SteamDeck #Gaming #Linux #PCGaming Surprised to see Valheim on this list, I have to stream from my pc to get it playable in the mid game Ubisoft just broke their games on Linux desktop and Steam Deck https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/02/ubisoft-broke-their-games-on-linux-desktop-and-steam-deck/

@gamingonlinux Makes me worried for the Trackmania 2020 Steam release tomorrow... I'm really hoping that it improves the ease of setup on Linux, not breaks it... @gamingonlinux Are you effing kidding me? I bought (for the second time) The Division 2 last week on Steam as I wanted to play it on my gaming PC, which I converted to Linux last year... I thought I'd support a company that was looking like they might improve their support for linux ... I already owned the game via Epic or maybe uplay... who knows... All these launchers need to die in a fire. I hope one day Valve reneges on their third party launcher agreement. Most games just use it as an advertising hub for DLC anyways. IMHO launchers are a tiny inconvinence at their best, and game breaking at their worst, they shouldn't exist. :bd17: I remember as a kid, I had no clue how to play the game, so I was just running around Hyrule aimlessly. Years later I saw some YouTube walk through and had an epiphany. Will have to try it out eventually. @gamingonlinux Wonder how long before it's combined with Super Metroid reverse engineered for a randomizer. elementary OS 7 'Horus' is out now with major AppCenter upgrades https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/02/elementary-os-7-linux-out-now-major-appcenter-upgrades/ @gamingonlinux this screenshot kinda reminds me of old Chrome OS in a way. @gamingonlinux I usually find myself defending them when people say Humble isn't worth using anymore, but it has become rare indeed to see their old spirit shining through. ๐ฌ @gamingonlinux Unsurprising to see weirdness given that Humble has new owners... Or not so new, I forget exactly when they were acquired. @gamingonlinux There's no point in it even existing. Almost no one used it. I have had Humble Choice since the start and have never even felt the urge to look at the collection.
