@gamingonlinux What they're saying sounds reasonable and i dont see any cause to assume they aren't doing this with good intentions. What im worried about is this being accepted and brought up in some AAA publishers board room as evidence that people are ok with "Generative AI art" in games and be used to justify less ethical uses.

Rasmus Lindegaard

@gamingonlinux sounds to me like this is exactly what generative AI is useful for when put to it.

@gamingonlinux "we will behave ethical and in the best interest of our creator race" Rouge Servitor says.

@gamingonlinux Not quite sure why someone would want to use anything but SteamOS on the Deck. No one can compare to Valve when it comes to support. Things like that scheduler will surely hit SteamOS, once Valve thinks it's ready from prime-time.

But sounds like a great solution for non-Deck handhelds, especially if this includes a gamescope session to have a gaming mode like the Deck does.

@gamingonlinux how much will the monthly fee be to shut the ads off?

Ray Of Sunlight

@gamingonlinux Reject AAA, embrace indie and libre games (And piracy)

Gilgwath

@gamingonlinux lol - if I see one ad in a game I payed full price for, that's it for me. Gonna GTFO. I have a library full of games I can play, probably until I die of old age, without looking at an ad once.

I'm going to play some Stellaris over at cast.samsai.eu/ in about 15 minutes. See you in the chat!

Moderating can be hilarious. Banned someone on the @gamingonlinux website recently for being terrible.

They made a new account, and the new email used was literally their old username. They were being terrible again, so banned.

They just emailed to complain, claiming no ban evasion as itโ€™s their first account.

My dude, your old original account email is basically the full name you just used to email me abbreviated ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@ThePlant The epitome of trying the same thing, expecting different results.

@gamingonlinux this is honestly the funniest ban interaction iโ€™ve had in ages, how stupid ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

@gamingonlinux The Witcher: Enhanced Edition wasn't working with 9-2 or 9-4 for me, but works flawlessly on 9-5 as well.

What do you think is the best thing to happen to #Linux in the last few years?

@gamingonlinux Firstly, Linux community is now comfortable environment for development and safe communication (it was important)
Secondly, Valve's influence on Linux, for sure. Valve makes Linux more enjoyable
Tertiary, Everytime increase level of performance. Stonks

@gamingonlinux For the average consumer? The Steam Deck. While a lot of people may never see desktop mode, I use it extensively at least 3-4 days a week as a daily laptop.

It's not the strongest laptop I could bring, but it's strong enough for every day use. I'm learning to love what Arch Linux and KDE can offer!

So many gaming sites writing about how โ€œBungieโ€ released Marathon on Steam or itโ€™s โ€œnow freeโ€.

Frustrating to see people not doing basic checks. It was the Aleph One team, not Bungie, and itโ€™s been free for years. Itโ€™s just now on Steam.

@gamingonlinux yup and not just the first Marathon, the entire franchise has been free for more than a decade (I remember playing Durandal and Infinity downloaded from the Aleph One website in my Pentium 3).
