6 years ago Mastodon described itself as "A GNU Social-compatible microblogging server" which is hilarious.

Every time he says this, I cannot help but to smile. Because I know it's a strange phrase of endearment.

Looks like @mkljczk is working on bringing federated Mobilizon-compatible events to Soapbox BE. 👀

I'm still banned from Pleroma's GitLab, and I decided to write about it. Take a look.

@alex

When GitHub started highlighting CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md, I started including that file in my repositories. My version is two words: “Be kind.”

I've always thought Pleroma is a better Mastodon without the woke and sjw bullshit. Can you fork Pleroma and make a sane version without the identity politics attached to it? Politically neutral free software would be nice for a change.

So, Mastodon changed their official color scheme to match Truth Social.

Finally figured out the cause of FireFox Android performance issues in new Soapbox.

It’s the fucking background gradient. Removing that speeds up scrolling through feeds tenfold, I shit you not.

:gleasonator: Pushed a fuckton of files converted to TypeScript, lmk if anything explodes

New Soapbox is starting to get really polished

Okay guys! :soapbox: The next version of Soapbox has been merged into develop.

Now develop represents the upcoming v3.0.0 version of Soapbox. It’s recommended that new servers start with this branch, but existing servers wait a little longer to upgrade.

I tagged a v2.0.0 release as well, which is roughly what’s currently running on Poast and Spinster. We’ll continue to patch that branch if we discover page crashes, but otherwise no new work will happen on that branch.

If you’re still on v1.3.0, I recommend you at least upgrade to v2.0.0. The build is here: https://gitlab.com/soapbox-pub/soapbox-fe/-/jobs/artifacts/v2.0.0/download?job=build-production

For anyone who’s nostalgic, we continue to host old versions of Soapbox. So if you miss the old UI, you can always visit:

v2.0.0 - https://v2.soapbox.pub/v1.3.0 - https://v1.soapbox.pub/

As always, the latest release is available here: https://fe.soapbox.pub/

Soapbox update: :soapbox:

There’s a major redesign coming up. It has 629 commits and changes 818 files. I’m going to merge it into develop this Monday.

It is not done. There are bugs and missing features. But this is the direction we’re going, and it will be a lot better long term. It is recommended that new servers start with this branch. With so many new servers popping up recently, I can’t postpone it any longer.

For established servers, I recommend you wait to upgrade. I’ll be maintaining a 2.x branch in case hotfixes are needed. I’m working diligently to get the new branch up to speed. Thanks for your patience.
