It's 2021, but there still are people who use Windows Vista and run my abandoned (or should I say superseded) library on it. I bought a robot vacuum. It sucks. It rolls around the apartment and sucks. It also speaks Chinese.

@grishka статья интересная, но кое где у автора возникают парадоксы. автор ругает x11 за то, что он даёт возможность приложениям получать исключительный контроль над клавиатурой и мышью (если приложение упадёт, то восстановить контроль не получится), а потом ругает вэйланд за то, что он _не_ даёт этой возможности. некоторые его жалобы точно так же относятся и к винде с макосью, а другие устарели настолько, что я уже не помню, когда последний раз с ними встречался. Frustrated that you can't edit toots? Well, at least you'll be able to edit #Smithereen posts soon.

I asked VK support how long pre-microblog statuses were allowed to be because no one seems to remember at this point. VK required login to see anything beyond a handful of pages back then, including profiles, so no luck with the web archive either. This is for after 1.0, but I just can't calm down without finding this out. This question keeps bugging me for several months at this point. For non-Russians here: Mail.Ru group has renamed itself to "VK". Not to be confused with VK, the social network it owns (and keeps ruining). I would like to do something better for #Smithereen translation than to have translators send pull requests after manually editing json files. Should I self-host Weblate, or should I apply for Crowdin "free for open source projects" plan? I'm also in the process of changing my translation file format. It turns out my custom json structure can't work with any of those services. Who would've known... It turns out that link color I auto-generated from hue-shifting the VK palette I initially rejected for being too dark isn't too dark. It turns out I'm an idiot who reasons about colors while having a blue light filter on, on both the computer and the phone. "use Firefox" they said No, Mozilla, your shitty"marketing" isn't worthy of my phone making noise and vibrating as if something actually happened.

 @grishka but the fact you can install uBlock Origin makes it still by far the best mobile browser option imho (and turn of those notifications, obviously) Which navigation bar design is better? #smithereen #activitypub #mastodev (it's lame that I can't attach photos AND a poll, see next toot for screenshots) Anonymous poll

This is the place where you keep track of any comment threads you've participated in. Posts are sorted by last comment time. No, Facebook doesn't have this, or it's buried deep enough that I couldn't find it in the 2 minutes I just spent there. |
