Looking forward to onboarding more https://pubkit.net developers this weekend!
Got a lot of positive feedback so far, and am looking forward to getting more so I can improve our products even more.
Remember, PubKit will be opt-in so you need to verify ownership of your server/domain before you can send/receive activities to that domain, this will prevent abuse and ensure usage respects fediverse norms!
@pixelfed Confused, I’m also running v0.11.13 but my settings page doesn't look like that. Mine still shows “Registration Status” with the checkmarks below for ActivityPub, Account Migration, and the like. Is there something I need to enable?
@pixelfed please also resolve the issue with errors in the Instagram migration 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏... I am so eager to delete all my content there, but the last ~100 posts just won't migrate, no matter how often I try. Thank you for all your work! ✨🙌
The only nit: I think Pixelfed doesn't let third-party clients know the image sizes, which causes slightly annoying layout shifts when the images are loading. Is this something that can be fixed?
Oh, perhaps this is an issue on Phanpy's side for not falling back to calculate box size based on the original size (Pixelfed doesn't expose `small` media attachment meta).
@pixelfed oh ! Great news! I have to test it with #Statuzer :) (it was already kind of working before thanks to its CORS proxy fallback feature, but native support is way better)
@pixelfed > Our Wikipedia page is at risk of being deleted because it may not meet notability guidelines
F*%king deletionists. We had the same problem with the fediverse article when it was created. I once had to recreate the article for Tara Hernandez after it was deleted;
What we need is links to publications with an editor (ie not blogs, forum threads etc), which are about PixelFed, not just mentioning it in passing.
Can anyone help?

@pixelfed Wikipedia's rules for "notability" are ludicrous. A project like Pixelfed will be deemed by some self-important twit as "not notable" while there's 15,000 pages of information on a background character in a video game…
Technically you can appeal this, but thatt involves a bureaucratic war with people who can cite every obscure Wikipedia rule from memory. You basically need to find one of those who's on your side to win.
@pixelfed The best thing is to collect a list of references to PixelFed.
Update: I checked the page and noticed there are many good references. But for sure we need more mainstream media to talk about PixelFed. Books or Academic papers would be great.
I don't know what is the basis for removing the page. Please share where it is discussed.
It seems that the value of #groups comes down to the network effect, so getting interoperability between the most group-focused #Fediverse apps is key.
Clearly Mobilizon / Bonfire are doing a lot of work here, while #Masto has a mass of users. It would also be interesting to see groups in some something like #Peertube, adding a differentiating factor to YouTube.

@pixelfed Maybe there is a version requirement for the new app build, I am getting An error occured when attempting to log in with https://pixelfed.sdf.org/ when the browser page is called
PSA: We switched signing keys for our Pixelfed for Android app.
If you are having issues updating to the latest version (1.0.0.44), we suggest deleting the Pixelfed app from your Android device, then re-installing the APK from https://pixelfed.org/mobile-apps
We've submitted our app to the Play Store for an open beta, and look forward to distributing the app via Play Store and F-Droid in the near future!
We appreciate your patience during this beta period!
I don't really understand, the versions in the Pixelfed repository (Droid-ify or FDroid whatever) are not the same as the one marked in the app, so the app in the repository is up to date or not (so far I've been using the apk from the Pixelfed app but I find it easier to go through Droid-Ify to update everything at the same time).
@pixelfed So are APK versions just going to be deprecated from then? Will there at least be an alternate way to get the app on non-GMS phones (ideally F-Droid imo :blobfox3c:)?
@pixelfed Just tried it out and I think I already can say I like it. Better presentation for pictures than what you get with one-size-fits-all Fedilab!
