just finished with an eatable plant id workshop by @rufposten at #fedicamp

some of the plants we identified (in the english):
wild onion
mug wart
horseradish
white yarrow
immortelle

rtn

@liaizon @rufposten Horseradish is amazing. But it has to be freshly grated. Especially good to fish.

Christian Pietsch πŸ‘

@liaizon

I was there, too, and I remember that we also looked at:

St. John's wort
borage
ribwort plantain aka narrowleaf plantain aka English plantain aka ribleaf aka lamb's tongue aka buckhorn
broadleaf plantain
asparagus
rowan aka mountain-ash berries

The first thing @rufposten did was tell us to consult a book on poisons.

The app he recommends for automatically identifying plants based on photos is called Flora Incognita: floraincognita.com/

was about to do some laundry and discovered two wild onions in the back pocket of my shorts from the #fedicamp workshop

the first session of the day at #fedicamp was @chpietsch talking about #PeerTube moderation and the issues they have come across moderating digitalcourage.video

wakest ⁂

#fedicamp so far

@sl007 picked me up from the closest town and told me all sorts of stories about their journalism practice and the roots of @redaktor

discussed democracy and the media and my relationship with anarchism with @rufposten

talked about electric car distance and open source cars and nazis on peertube with @chpietsch

explained my fediverse bug filing praxis to @hagen

bummed a cigarette from @Herbstfreud and heard about a device being built nearby to make motion from heat

looking for a place for me and @lake to stay in #berlin from august 20th to 24th
boosts appreciated

I was just asked if I would do a 5 minute lighting talk bout how I use ML in my art practice. I feel like I should take the opportunity but maybe prerecord it cause fitting anything in 5 minutes cohesively is daunting

MEMEXIKON

@liaizon always a great exercise to distill the best thought

on my way to #fedicamp and getting there is significantly more difficult because there is a giant stockpile of confiscated fireworks and hand grenades that blew up and now almost all the trains are delayed

wakest ⁂

ugh now the train I chose cause it was the least delayed is delayed

wakest ⁂

some racists on the train. I didn't understand any of what they said but I could tell it was entirely of racist content. this group of black women walked on to the train and then these people sitting next to me all started pointing and speaking very loudly. the only words I definitely made out was something like "berlin is our city"

so you know how you can copy a url to a post to load it to your local view by searching its url inside of mastodon: why is there not a way to go to a profile and click load most recent 100 posts locally?

wakest ⁂

if I get a new follow on my single user instance from an instance I haven't interacted with it will show none of the posts of the user. I have to load the account in a external web browser to even see who the person is. this is a feature we need to work on making better its so annoying. and I havent seen any #fediverse project implementation of this yet even on zap zot friendica based fedi software

mike
Nope. Anybody [edit: that is logged in] can do it. But you do have to know the url of a message collection of some kind and these are only rarely surfaced in the UI.

the person who made the software to animate the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park wants to start a new open source 3d animation program ala blender but writing everything in Common Lisp and they are looking for people interested in contributing

anyone driving through #berlin to go to @fedicamp in the coming days #fedicamp?

I am currently making a local copy of all my blog posts into obsidian so I can cross reference stuff I have written about to better understand my own life. this feels somehow important. I also forgot how much of the last two years I was actually writing stuff which is interesting. I think I forgot a lot.

Odo Tournesol

@liaizon what's obsidian (I assume you don't mean the mineral)

Tykayn

@liaizon
haha i have been doing that too for orgmode from wordpress data base exports in json.

forge.chapril.org/tykayn/org-r
also working for mastodon db export

planning to add some more sources of stuff i have written.

also this is very nice to organize links and see things with org-roam-ui.
i tried obsidian but having it not libre software made me go away and opt for a simple org and mark down solution

is there any way of querying just the interactions of an account in the fediverse? "show me all the messages where they have liked mine or I have liked their and all the messages that either I am tagged in their message or they are tagged in mine"

and if there isn't already such a tool can you imagine how one might go about that? I guess you would need to pull in all their posts and all your posts thru an api, then run it thru grep or something and then spit out all the uris

42GB

@liaizon not sure if you need all their posts. If you are tagged.. or liked: You should find that in your notification or mentions. If you liked their posts: in your favs. If you tagged them: your toots. Sounds like a cool idea πŸ’‘

Tim

@liaizon I'm pretty new to the feddi, but if you can access your instances database I have some queries for you!

```
select *
from statuses
left join accounts a on statuses.account_id = a.id
where text ilike '%wants.coffee/@tim%'
and a.username = 'georift'
and a.domain = 'qoto.org';
```

perfect berlin scene:
kid speeding by on a razor scooter with a blue dripping icecream cone in one hand wearing a hijab and jnco jeans

wakest ⁂

I was planning on going to @fedicamp but wondering if everything is going to be entirely in german as I am a anglophone and sadly understand very very little of anything else. I guess the worst case scenery I sit in a field and draw if I can't understand much. Also is anyone driving from #Berlin?

Tobi

@liaizon @fedicamp I guess all are able to speak English too.

last night I found a pile of raw cotton on its stem in the trash. it was sitting on top of a large styrofoam box of wilted arugula (much past its prime) and tucked to the side of a dumpster

I have never played with raw cotton before so I am excited to make some string and yarn

this is #solarpunk

wakest ⁂

I separated a single pod (haven't looked up what a unit of cotton is called) and it has a surprising number of seeds. if anyone would like to try growing some cotton lemme know!

Gitea 1.17.0 was just released and it added support for #nodeinfo (how the #fediverse lists instances in places like fedidb.org/network) and they also added support for #webfinger (the protocol used to look up users by a url or @name@url.tld in the search field)
