something is seriously weird with @pixelfed federation back to mastodon. I am seeing responses to posts made here only show up on pixelfed.social

"when you use primarily discarded or waste materials it helps provide a useful constraint around your activities, 'artwork', or other projects, or serves as a starting point for deciding what you'll make next, either as a meal (if it's food), or as artwork or for performances, if it's materials." -@exquisitecorp

nice to see someone else point this out as its been a major lifelong part of my praxis

any germans know how the green party trying to get something permanent from the 9euro tix legislation is going rn?

RbR

@liaizon
You mean like a nationwide long term equivalent?
It's looking pretty bad. It's a "no" from most politicians in charge, out finance minister recently called people demanding or even using it basically scroungers and some northern states wanted to do their own one (for more than 9 euros) but most of them state it's not possible without federal funding.

Maike

@liaizon My guess: Nothing of this sort is going to happen some time soon. Better do as much as you can of your traveling this month.

free waffles and coffee at Haus der Materialisierung in #berlin right now! I live this city.

@liaizon i'm used to seeing those square Belgian waffles when the country isn't Norway. this looks like a waffle that could actually come from my country. but you're pairing it with weird stuff. over here, it's typically sour cream and/or some kind of jam. or brown cheese (which isn't really cheese; it's whey-based and resembles fudge more than cheese)

sneak

@liaizon free waffles but how much do they charge you for the watermelon?????

Just got out of watching Akira in a theater in Berlin! A friend had tickets and their date bailed last minute so I got invited. I had seen it before but many years ago and on a small screen. The animation is insane, the amount of effort that must go into every frame is mind boggling.

Dante Scanline

@liaizon the backgrounds are so massive, those giant paintings of the city scapes that the camera pans over

Job

@liaizon don't forget the soundtrack! I don't think Akira would be nearly as memorable without the music complementing the animation so perfectly

Nulo

@liaizon There's this thing too: museumsportal-berlin.de/de/aus

I really liked it, even though I haven't watched the anime. No pictures allowed though (?)

Thank you #fedicamp for a wonderful last 4 days! On my train journey back to Berlin after having many many stimulating conversations. Thank you to all who went out of their way to communicate with me in english and also to translate from german as an intermediary!

@liaizon
It was really nice to meet you, too.
Hope we'll all see us next year again :ablobcatheartsqueeze:

@liaizon I found talking to you pleasant and enlightening. See you soon somewhere!

@liaizon

Thank you so much for your participation!

This was also a cool event due to the inspiration you were able to sow... :-)

it makes no sense to me that you have to follow an account to be able to put it in a list on mastodon. has any of the forks like #fedibird or #hometown patched this yet? #mastodev

pine "two cats" trees

@liaizon otherwise you'd be able to list accounts that have blocked you? that seems like it would be bad/ripe for abuse

Kadin

@liaizon I can see the point of being able to do it, but my guess is that it's non-trivial to implement... if you're not following an account, your local #Mastodon instance won't be pulling in (subscribing to?) updates for it.

Putting an account onto a list would need to implicitly do a 'soft follow' if following wasn't required as a precondition, and I can imagine the devs decided it was better to require that be done explicitly.

のえる

@liaizon There are two main features that Fedibird implements.

The first is that you can choose to feed or not feed the posts of the users you follow to your home.

This allows you to feed only the list while still following the ActivityPub normally.

One is "subscribe features". This is the ability to feed public posts from users you don't follow to your home or list. You can target not only users, but also hashtags, keywords, and entire domains.

Blocking and muting are reflected as expected.
