surprised that 'antistyle' is in websters just managed to drop my iphone on some cement and break more of the glass. luckily the screen still works but sorta annoying almost had a little panic attack from this spam message about my domain expiring today and believed it enough to log in to gandi.net to check only to see that I had already renewed till 2023 not often that spam trips me up ok another tangent I have been thinking about: sustainable artist made and run art supplies. I have been drawing my whole life. I mostly use art supplies that I find in the trash or free boxes or people give me cause I am not too picky but I love a nice pen. I hate buying art supplies mainly because I know how many of then there are in the world going to waste. drying out in drawers and boxes in peoples attics etc. I want to make reusable permanent markers that are meant to be refilled I want them to use natural dyes and have the tips be made of something meant to last and maybe of natural materials or at least from a waste stream from something else. @liaizon i really like mops over any chisel tip type markers for tagging, and they all just have a screw top to dump in ink. but they guzzle it like crazy and are only really appropriate for that certain style I wonder if "tattoo photography" is much of an established art form (with its own terms etc) (I am sitting across from an older person with a cane on the ubahn rn who has some weird old tattoos and was wondering if they were documented anywhere) I know a ton of indigenous tattoo traditions have been documented by classical photo journals like national geographic etc so it's definitely been around a while good morning fedi I did however finish reading @maya's whole thread about #goats that is quite lovely https://occult.institute/@maya/108810362154132691 time to make coffee now 🐐 the four goats I grew up with were Shiitake, Aguarakis, Purdy and Amanita @memexikon do you remember why Aguarakis was called that? is it also a mushroom? this has been my profile picture on bandcamp for many years. I think @palomakop was the one who originally took it. it was taken an art show that some friends had put together in New Orleans and there was the coolest lights set up... currently listening to Sakai by #Yokubari, a suuuuuper good breakcore/dark/weird/high energy album released by the awesome label https://www.chinabot.co, which I am listening to the back catalog of everything they have up for streaming on their bandcamp today https://chinabot.bandcamp.com/album/sakai The track Kavvandha off the soon to be released album Goring by Bo Sedkid was suuuper good! https://chinabot.bandcamp.com/track/kavvandha I was a huge fan of M.I.A. for ages and many years ago visited #SriLanka for a month. Since then have had interest in music coming out of this region. I was really into Yung Raja (from Singapore) for a while, who is one of the first Tamil rappers to get some traction internationally. It's super lovely to see some new experimental stuff coming out of Sri Lanka... The https://joinfediverse.wiki has really come a long way since last I looked at it. Glad to see this project evolve and get lots of translations into various languages! The really owl cute mascot by @davidrevoy Also thanks to @olamundo for reminding me about this project :fediverse: :fediverse: :fediverse: lovely to see by the poster made for Transmediale 2020 by @lidia_p and @estragon on there! @liaizon looking at Wikimedia Commons page for Mastodon the developer is listed as: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Mastodon_(social_network) we need semantic tagging features on the fediverse or some sort of linked data thing. if I tag a post #fediverse that tag should also seen by people following #联邦宇宙 etc
[DATA EXPUNGED]
just came across a new mastodon instance called https://assemblag.es and just had to follow like everyone on it cause its filled with interesting folks... #followthursday @liaizon now I’m curious to see their list of suspended instances :comfyderp:
wow the peertube instance I had an account on and had used a bunch over the last few years is seemingly gone without any notice. it was at betamax.video and was managed by @debugninja@banana.dog (also an instance thats gone now?) did they ragequit or something? the importance of picking a server whos admin you trust is really an underrated aspect of the fediverse we need to work on... I mostly chose it for the cool domain name and the custom theme... @liaizon Hrm, it seems to have been properly self-destructed - I was following some people on banana.dog and also can find my posts from a few conversations with debugninja, but all theirs don't exist on my instance anymore. @liaizon yeah this actually is why i didnt come back for a long time. i joined a masto when it got suddenly popular in 2017 or 2018 but my instance disappeared after a few months. wasn't really feeling it anyways so i didnt stick around hard. @liaizon I announced the closure of both well ahead of time but Betamax got killed earlier than anticipated because of a database issue during upgrade. Sorry if it caught you by surprise. I did a better job at closing banana.dog time zones are soooo confusing. can we all just use internet time or something. just discovered berlin is in the MEZ ZIET zone cause right the time zones are all acronyms that will have language variation hey #fediverse people: lets say @moss@grassy.feild only posts in german but I dont speak any german so instead of following them I dm @TranslationBot "follow @moss@grassy.feild in english" and then @TranslationBot makes a private repost account that replies to their public posts with the translation in english and tags me in it.

@liaizon That sounds so much worse than just making a DeepL integration in your client. @˗ˏˋ wakest ˎˊ˗ I have made an extension app for Hubzilla, which translates posts through DeepL API. It works but it is in alpha state. Translation of everything slows stream loading, I have to make DeepL calls client-side by javascript to click just the post you want to translate and not everything server-side. If I had some time I would finish it for Streams. But I can make a repo meanwhile.
went to wikipedia and got distracted by a big banner about the worldwide wikimania thats going on and the only event listed in germany is in some town called Holzgünz that I have never heard of https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/In-person_events#Germany,_Holzgünz |
maybe antistyle is a less problematic term then "ignorant style"
