Aariya language why the f#$%$ does the ISO website make you pay to look at their standards documentation online? https://www.iso.org just noticed that #tokipona is listed as having an official 3 letter code name on https://iso639-3.sil.org/code/tok and just wanted to look at the same data not on some creepy missionary website which is apparently what sil.org is since they mention something about the bible on their front page

@liaizon I once had to cite an ISO standard in a paper, and in trying to do so I learned that India's Department of Economic something-or-other has (or at least had) a collection of ISO documents they'd bought, stuck their own branding on, and uploaded to archive.org. Each document had a long preamble about how freely available standards documentation is an important public good. I don't know if they're still up somewhere. I wish I could remember all the details ok but did yall already forget that they found a crystal on the moon and brought it back last week? cause thats still the coolest news I have read in a while and there should be more hype over it honestly

That's interesting as there hasn't been a Lunar sample return flight since Mainland China's Chang'e 5 in the fall of 2021. hey @vgan I just discovered your @ai_art_bot! so awesome. Do you plan to make it so people can submit prompts for it to run? hey @rabble theres much discussion about the forbes article here https://social.network.europa.eu/@EC_NGI/109003064654986060 that might benefit from some direct responses from you, I don't think many people know you are actually here at all since your twitter autoposts here... [And as a friend told me not long ago about their decision to identify publicly as nonbinary, “I’m not asking you to consider my gender as much as I am asking you to spend a little time considering yours.”] https://www.thecut.com/article/brock-colyar-pronouns-nonbinary-essay.html [I’ve watched people I don’t know discuss my pronouns on Reddit threads and in TikTok comment sections. (Does my algorithm know my pronouns?) I go to a party where I overhear a close friend accidentally use he/him to refer to me. I then hear another person, someone I’m not that close to, lay into the first person. I’m not sure whom I should be more offended by, but everybody is embarrassed. I’ve been consumed by pronouns.] the amount of times people start and stop and edit their sentences mid sentence that we subconsciously adjust to understanding is quite incredible. I was there doing the interviews and I had no idea how many times both me and the interviewee would restate or restart the same sentence or repronounce a word etc really weird thing just happened: the internet at this cafe wouldn't load a number of different instances of mastodon: this one, autonomous.zone, sunbeam.city but it loaded merveilles.town and mastodon.social just fine. the error was something about io timeout but it wasn't an error I had seen before. anyone know what this might have been from? (seems to all be fine now but I would like to understand what was causing this for future me)

I can only add more weirdness: This site sometimes does not load on some German ICE (express) trains. And it is very slow on Deutsche Telekom and certain fibre networks. ok this is post solves the mystery OVH was down! cc'ing @zens @thor who answered with ideas of what it might be. "crouching figure naked covered in cloth and plastic bags trash jungle background with electric wires and streetlights style of akira guro lithography fine lines ignorant" run via https://mage.space just spent a good 15 minutes trying to explain anti-capitalism to this person from Columbia. they seemed really intrigued by the idea but it was totally new to them hell yeah I think my complaint about a youtube link last week was the tipping point to get @thunderbird@mastodon.online to sign up to #PeerTube! follow their new account here: @thunderbird@tilvids.com! :fediverse: :fediverse: :fediverse: "US border forces are seizing Americans' phone data and storing it for 15 years" not that this is really new information to us but its pretty stunning to see it posted on the front of mainstream news just discovered a new #RISCV sbc called the MQ-Pro made by https://mangopi.cc and now I want one (I dont need it but its so cute) @liaizon I did hear about it and now it looks like they changed the color to pink and it looks like there are some in stock for close to the $20 mark unlike before just discovered @paupowpow "KIDPIX CHROME" artwork, so sick! "how long can i follow the trail of pixels before i end up where i started again?" she has a whole section about her kidpix artwork here: #kidpix is also the first piece of software I specifically remember making art with, though I think we had MacPaint much earlier (maybe @memexikon remembers better) |
