just discovered @podverse, an podcasting client that is #floss, on iOS and F-Droid and active here on the #fediverse does anyone know why there seems to be so many anarcho-capitalist Russians? I would like to read a study in this. @liaizon Look at their history: What has the state ever done for them? They have always been suppressed and exploited by a tsar. They have never experienced the benefits of democracy. @liaizon i'd love to read some writing about it from russians but i guess living through USSR and post USSR would explain a lot towards that. oh wow mastodon.technology shutting down made the front page of hacker news yesterday and has over 500 comments just came across @mro's request to @nlnetlabs for funding a new #fediverse software called #Seppo meant for single user instances @liaizon @mro @liaizon @mai @compost @ntnsndr #friendlyenemies kinda sumes up all the #mainstreaming articles about the #openweb who can't see outside the #techshit so add to the problem of #techchurn Compost the lot comes to mind. TIL that #ActivityPub used to be named ActivityPump https://github.com/w3c/activitypub/commit/215721a391e920286c9834c198658bc8610fa529 discovered via this #fediverse follow widget thing https://roosenmaallen.com/2022/06/22/full-1-0-0-release-fedi-follow-widget/ anyone know where @cj of https://github.com/go-fed is? I noticed their website is down and there is no activity on their github for 9 months. I see they posted something in June about maternity care so maybe they are just offline with baby care duties. @MediaFormat pinged them (https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/unofficial-test-suite-go-fed-testsuite/805/9) cause the #activitypub test suite is down as well and it seems like they might be the one who has the keys... just discovered the #POLY555 #OSHW synth while browsing the list of projects made using https://openscad.org went to a talk about shaders and GLSL at #f0rthsp4ce tonight in #tbilisi and ran into some people afterwards who had tried out the fediverse for a while last year but got annoyed with it cause they couldn't figure out how to find content that was interesting to them, when I told them I would give them a little tour sometime they all seemed excited by the idea I think we have a lot to figure out. and the people who this place works for are a very special subset of humans that the chaos of this place makes sense to. not to say any other place has a model that is good but I really feel like the fediverse is the start of something really important and I want to do all I can to push whats good about it forward and to release the things that are not helping us. I think the name is one of the first things that needs work tho.

@liaizon it’s “бабушкофон”, without “ов” ;) But yes, that’s a thing! My babushka has a бабушкофон x) thanks to @virtuallight for pointing out that I was using the possessive form of the word. its #бабушкофон (babushkophone) and the 'ов' (ov) is is the possessive like (the phone'S big buttons) the :fediverse: #fediverse podcasting project @Castopod is number one on Hacker News at the moment! hanging out at http://f0rth.space (a #hackerspace in #tbilisi) and brought a little task to do while socializing. all the lightning cables me and @lake have been traveling with have the same issue of the insulation breaking up at the ends so I reinforced them all with some layers of heat shrink I was looking up #федиверс (#fediverse in Cyrillic) and the second image on google is this bizarre painting from a pretty good article that explains the fediverse in #Russian: https://habr.com/ru/post/556306/ (I read it in english thru iOS auto translate and it did a perfect job, ai is doing wonders on language barriers these days) |
@podverse they have inline embeds to specific parts of a podcast working on mastodon already which is pretty damn slick
