Looking at the first page of https://merv.news as of time of posting, 13 posts are by me, 8 are by @neauoire, 1 is by @inscript. When I finally release Betula, and it is going to happen soon, I will probably not post on merv.news anymore, because I will have my own thing. I will miss the community part of link sharing! Lemmy federates, though. With ActivityPub, though. Betula is not a pub for activities, it will federate IndieWeb-style. Well, maybe I should go for ActivityPub instead? Hmm. @bouncepaw What is Indieweb-style federation? Looking at adoption in the first few months feels premature. I check merv.news not for what it is but to watch what it might become. Is there a tool that generates GitHub-like green activity thingy locally, given paths of git repositories? If not, does anybody want to build one?

How does domain ownership work? Is there really a person in the world that truly owns their domain, not just rents it? @bouncepaw i own my private domains :blobcatcomfcool:.
too bad they are only accessible inside my vpn. @bouncepaw I've been saying domain ownership is the biggest racket for so long. I see domains get taken down by the US government all the time. @bouncepaw no one does. it's often easier to think of domain ownership as a street address. The government decides how to find a house, but the individual owns the land. IP addresses are different. You can actually own an IP address. They are the "land" of the internet. Anybody up for a #workingInPublic session for Merveilles in Jitsi tomorrow or the day after it? @bouncepaw I know I'm not a member of merveilles, so I hope I'm not intruding on the thread here, but I wanted to say thanks for making me aware of Jitsi. It seems like a great alternative to a bunch of services I don't particularly like. Very cool! @bouncepaw Sorry I missed it. I'm travelling this week but will try to look out for the next one. (This is also why I didn't respond to your previous message.) Does anybody remember that CSS framework that required no classes to be written? It just guessed everything from the semantic tags. Couldn't find it!!

@dream Oh hello, Dream Reader! I was looking through my dream notes, trying to find something for you to interpret. Sadly, it seems that almost all of my dreams are very literal, and require extensive context of my life for you to understand. They include things I want to happen. However, my nightmares are different! They are symbolic. I'll describe a nightmare I had in the next message. @dream The dream happened the first night in the city where my university is. The location was the Trade Union Square in Ufa. It was attacked by Lincoln the American president. He was levitating, glowing in light blue and shooting some lasers or something. The whole square got destroyed. I and my family were separated during the attack. I have hidden behind a pipe. Then he found me. I tried to scream but couldn't. Then he killed me I guess. Keeping a diary is like a part-time job. Maybe I'll drop keeping it. I spend hours every week keeping it, and I so rarely read it afterwards! I have more than two years of notes, and they are daily since middle of 2021 or so. I often proclaim that i live by the Pareto principle, id est 20 per cent of effort give 80 per cent of result. Thus, if one is OK with 80 per cent of result, instead of 100, then why bother? It helped me to get through this semester. So, why bother with the diary? Oh yeah, there is a thread on self-quantization on the Forum:, started by @aynish. https://forum.merveilles.town/thread/66/to-what-end-should-we-quantify-the-self%3f-3/ Maybe I should join. Maybe I should not. I don't really want to publish in yet another place. @bouncepaw I found that the act of writing things down allows me to reflect on things one more time, when I stop, time seems to just slip through my fingers @bouncepaw Just saw this. What did you think of the recent https://borretti.me/article/unbundling-tools-for-thought? There are two patches in my inbox waiting for two weeks already I guess. I should review them already! Missed today's sleep due to insomnia. Think I might break my New Year's tradition of skipping the first sleep, I didn't like today at all. Sneakers for the mind. Unicycle for the mind.
