Plasma 6.0 has been released. Check out the new overview, improved colour management, a cleaner theme, more effects, better overall performance, and much more. Plasma 6 Release Candidate 1 has landed. We are less than 50 days away from the final version of #Plasma6. Along with Frameworks 6 and KDE Gear 24.02, the Megarelaease on the 28th of February will be one of the biggest and more complex upgrades in KDE's history. One more RC will be released on the 31st of January and then it will be (hopefully) clear sailing until the final release.

@kde Oh, wow. My boss and I were just talking about KDE 6 this morning. Guess I should load it up and test for accessibility. @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social LASNDJLHSKJFHJKSFHS 50 DAYS CLOSER TO DITCHING GNOME Plasma and apps for mobile also getting overhauled for 6. It's not only Plasma on the desktop that is getting a new version, as Devin Lin explains in his blog post, https://espi.dev/posts/2023/12/plasma-mobile-towards-6/ developers are working hard on getting #PlasmaMobile 6 ready for the #megarelease scheduled for February. One of these 6 beauties will become the wallpaper for Plasma 6. Which one do you prefer? --- Want to contribute to KDE? Middle right, bottom right, and then middle left in that order. Anything else I wouldn’t rank in any order because I don’t like them at all. I like bottom right the most, but it does’t really feel like a default wallpaper as much as top left. Middle right feels like part of a tiling WM with custom colors more than a default for a DE. Why wait for Microsoft to catch up with what we've been doing for decades? Get Plasma, a modern, fully functional, clean, privacy-respecting, non-intrusive operating system now, regardless from where you live and ditch Windows for good.

Add some retrofuturistic flair to your desktop with Nostrum, the first global theme in the Off-Theme series: @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I've been using nostrum for a few weeks now. i love the aesthetic and it is very solid (no glitches) Plasma developer David Edmundson demonstrates how a desktop using Wayland, Qt6 and KWin can recover from a catastrophic crash as if nothing had happened. http://blog.davidedmundson.co.uk/blog/qt6_wayland_robustness/ You will lose no data, the video you were watching will not skip a frame, and the contents of your clipboard will remain intact.

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I would love to have the share button with a device be directly in the hamburger menu and not have to press 3 times to share to share a Spectacle image to my mobile. And RIP Dani. @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social Is it possible *not* to hide temporary and backup files? I can't find this is in the configuration. Want to know how #Plasma6 is coming along? Check out Nate's in-depth analysis on what's done, what devs are working on right now, and what's coming to KDE's next generation desktop environment: https://pointieststick.com/2023/08/03/august-plasma-6-progress-update/ Love reading about the progress! I’m not advanced enough to test myself, but hopefully more people can start jumping in to make this a great release. This week in KDE: #Plasma6 is not only gearing up for a big technological shift, but is also adding cool new features and improving the user experience Look forward to sound themes! @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social gotta say I held my breath for a moment there! Plasma is the best customizable 'large' DE out there, and I love it for that This week in KDE brings new #Plasma6 features, like changes to the sound theme and when sounds are played, you can now change your active power profile, and log in easier to captive portal pages (like those found at hotels and airports). https://pointieststick.com/2023/07/21/this-week-in-kde-plasma-6-features/ @kde @kde@lemmy.kde.social I'd love to see an option on the network options to use the Tor network to connect to a WiFI @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I cant't believe plasma 5 is almost a decade old :ablobspin: @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I think KDE needs to show a pop-up to select When the user plugs something in the Audio ports like how GNOME does. Oftentimes I have poor audio quality simply because I forgot to select the sources. @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social is the KDE Itenerary app on the Google Play store still being updated? @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I was never a fan of the other breeze cursor. This looks clean 👀 @kde Darker Breeze cursor?? Yessir! I'd love to see the Breeze global theme get dsrker too, it's grey now, not dark! #Travel season is here! Bon Voyage 🚂✈️🏖️🚢🏛️🕌! --- Support KDE!: https://kde.org/fundraisers/yearend2022/ @kde Hi KDE Team! I have an unrelated set of questions: What’s the design idea behind putting more and more menus into hamburgers, where they are less accessible? (Got a link?) Is this trend going to continue? Is there a plan to make it easy to keep classic, usable menu bars? |
@kde @kde "let you know when there is an update available without even requiring an internet connection."
How does that work. Because sounds implausible...
