 So #Bluesky raised another $15 million from a bunch of venture firms. Congratulations to @jay.bsky.team and team. Talking anybody into giving you millions of dollars is not an easy thing to do, and I'm sure that in spite of all the user growth, it was not easy for Bluesky either. The announcement is here. It contains some rather interesting tidbits from who the investors are and aren't to future plans and non-plans. Worth reading. Software releases are always fun. I once saw a golden master file with the filename something-final-final-final-final-final.tgz -- and there may have been more finals than that. It always feels like that. "SSI is dead."  @stefan I find the wording a little strange honestly, but as an artist I completely support the sentiment. We need more creative folks in here! One stronger argument for me is that followers on fedi works very similarly to a newsletter, as if you want to switch to another instance or a completely different Fediverse service you are not loosing your social graph. So effort put into finding your people will not go to waste. But that would be even more real once post portability will be standard  The signature verification system is still very much work in progress, but the source code is available at https://github.com/stefanbohacek/fediverse-signatures. I guess no reason that Bluesky's distribution is radically different from other social platforms.  @j12t When recommendations for the most popular accounts are heavily promoted, it becomes a winner-takes-it-all. @j12t You got 1 billion total likes on bluesky? Wow, that platform is doing much better than Mastodon. Is there a downtrend related to bluesky or your activity there? The media business is hard, in the Fediverse and elsewhere.
