Congrats @renchap and @andypiper for being quoted in Newsweek. https://www.newsweek.com/how-top-twitter-rivals-fared-since-elon-musk-exodus-1984404 Came across this gem today. Title: "AI: the Intelligent Answer to Reasoning: "We all know that renewable energy is the key to achieving net zero. But adopting it isn't as straightforward as simply flipping a switch. "If we want renewables to actually beat oil and gas, or if we ... in the renewable energy supply chain through AI-powered robotics. This economic imperative becomes even more critical when Wrote my first go program. Actually, I didn't. chatgpt did it for me. It seems to work. Make a bad website! Now! Build a better one later! Maybe! Rachel Kelly encouraging us to take back the web and make places for community and play. @SeaGL @baconandcoconut @SeaGL That's part of the reason I switched to an ISP to host my domain & site instead of wordpress.com. Now to get off of Wordpress altogether, which is going to be tricky because I built a portfolio of my fiber art so the volume there's more to move. @baconandcoconut @SeaGL a better idea is to build community in the real world space and invest in social capital. the most important part of #Unicode history is when a mouse fell out of a light fixture and got added to the count of members present at a Technical Committee meeting (9 Nov 2016)

@SnoopJ @VulpineAmethyst Hah! This is so great, I'm reading it in tom "grumpy emoji expert" scott's voice... ;) I love this ❤️ I have similar memories about some whimsical meeting minutes when I was on the committee drafting the UK's Data Protection Act in 1984 😂 Nice to meet you @mountainmindset @ezra @cassfae at the SeaGL Fediverse get-together! @mho @heiseonline you mentioned the number of followers being 1/4 of #twitter. But that's one good thing about #mastodon /#fediverse , you actually don't need to follow an account in order to have access to their (popular) posts. Number of followers here (unlike Twitter) doesn't directly influence your posts being reachable or accessible, it's the content/quality of your posts that make it shared 👍 @mho @heiseonline On a recent Dot Social episode @mike interviewed @404mediaco and they mentioned that the amount of money the ratio of followers-money received is significantly higher coming via their Fediverse accounts. Over the next several months, I am going to be working to help people who are on other networks get onto fediverse servers that are a good match for their needs. I am starting in what is probably the least efficient way:

@kissane This is great, thank you. Slight tangent - your site works so well without JS that my first attempt to subscribe failed silently without me noticing; on second visit, I remembered to fix NoScript and try again, which worked, obvs. Not entirely useful information, sorry. Anyway, ty. TechCrunch: With this latest deal, Flipboard looks to build a news ecosystem beyond X I wrote a little about what's done and what's immediately in front of us to do for #Letterbook. I want the project to be easy to join and start contributing. This is part of that. Another part I'm experimenting with is holding maintainer office hours (first one Nov 17). https://letterbook.com/blog/post/2024/11/6/contributing.html We've made a lot of progress, but there's still so much to do. Right now we need a ton of web development. Details about all of that are in the blog post 👆 The fediverse, or something like it, is going to be important for us going forward. We need ways to meet each other and talk about things where billionaires aren't in control of what you see. We need our own communication infrastructure, and that's what this is. We also need it to be sustainable, in both human and financial terms. That's also what this is. https://letterbook.com/blog/post/2024/11/6/contributing.html 8 years ago on election day I went to an IoT meetup in the evening. I remember when I sat down I opened my laptop and the NYTimes big arrow pointed all the way over to Clinton. I listened to the presentations, and an hour or hour and half later, I hit refresh. The big arrow was at the opposite end of the dial pointing all the way to Trump. Not going to any IoT or other events today. |
