Today we are planting starts for lettuce, kale, and peas. We are also starting a tea garden for the first time: lemon verbena, echinacea, and calendula. I'm so so excited!

@darius our cats will eat anything that's too tasty; tomatoes and basil never survive but I recently discovered they don't like cardamom so I'm excited about that @darius Lovely! Speaking of tea gardens, at my old home, I actually did keep some camellia sinensis. They weren't going to make premium tea leaves, but they were beautiful and easy to care for, and I did drink a cup or two from them from time to time. @darius aww! Glad to see it got a spot! Sorry if I was a bit awkward about dropping it off -- was pretty emotionally tired from the first day of driving after stewing through autumn I just learned about Tropy, an open source desktop application for managing the thousands of photos that I end up taking on research trips to archives: @darius I send this to my costume studies friends too who often need to categorize things by color palettes! Defo a useful tool. Give a man a hamburger, and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to hamburger, and he'll hardly know 'er.

trying to decide whether to *stream* a Fights in Tight Spaces run later today or just to record a run with my commentary and post it. I think I would do better if I didn't have an audience, but an audience might result in more people actually *looking* at it, and I want to get more people playing this game... by the way if you like Into the Breach and Slay the Spire... Fights in Tight Spaces. Play it. It's my new favorite game. https://www.fightsintightspaces.com/ Sometimes the mere process of writing out a cw is enough to make me go "huh. Maybe this joke doesn't need telling." @darius this very process happens to me a couple times a week and it feels almost like going into bullet time today I learned that I have been using PuTTY on Windows for.... twenty years :blobsobglasses:
[DATA EXPUNGED]
@darius Until the WSL came along that was the only game in town, and even the terminal MS included with its first iteration of the WSL was pretty awful, so I googled "wsl terminal that works as well as PuTTY" and found: https://github.com/mintty/wsltty/releases For a few months now, when I ssh to one particular machine from Win10 via Putty or WinSCP, after entering valid credentials I get this error: "remote side unexpectedly closed network connection." For Putty, this happens on stable 0.74, the current dev snapshot, and even an older version, 0.60. WinSCP is the latest stable version. When I ssh from the same machine, booted into linux, it works fine. I found only unanswered support threads googling for the error message.

@darius sorry, I can't understand a word of what you're saying. I just turned 38, you know. While you were studying the blade, I was studying the blade. Alas, we could have been blade study-buddies! @danbruno this is cool! if you expand the 3d section on this page you'll get extracted (I think) map geometry from the Crossbell games https://trails-game.com/map/crossbell/ Proposal: on your next purely social video call, wear a ratty t-shirt but also extremely formal clothing from the mid-body down where no one can see. Like a cummerbund and expensive dress shoes

@darius you reminded me of this article from last year - I was tempted to buy one: https://www.spoon-tamago.com/2020/05/08/wfh-jammies-pandemic-uniform/ As someone who came of age during the shareware era, I'm really enjoying these Steam events where they have playable demos of upcoming games. I feel like demos are something that a lot of developers didn't spend time on for various reasons, and Valve is now incentivizing them to do so. @darius The XBLA era where every game was forced to have a free demo was something of a miracle. I get why that level of standardization is gone now (digital distribution is way different now from what XBLA was meant to be), but it was so great to be able to sample everything in the store turned on boosts in my timeline and omg there's so much content how do people even deal with it

@darius I selectively disable boosts from people who boost too frequently for my taste. That seems to keep things manageable. |
@darius hit or miss for me lately, but I'm not a heavy user right now. In the US.
@darius I haven't used it in a bit, but it was working a few weeks ago.
@darius
nope, I'm having issues in the EU as well
