your wifi network is insecure, mine believes it has the power to succeed. we are not the same "there has been a tremendous shift in enthusiasm, attitudes, and indeed poll numbers, both on the Democratic side and among the fascists, who are suddenly caught pants down fucking the furniture on the deck of the Titanic" (ETA, this pull quote is not the thesis, but it was too excellent to not pull, & if it draws in readers, great) Hats off @VickyACAB https://all-cats-are-beautiful.ghost.io/feeling-good-doesnt-require-the-democrats/ I just sent this essay to my sister who is A Normie and then I was like... does she know about the couchfucking? I'm *pretty sure* she does? It was on tv @inquiline “yeah, we know, but stop killing our vibe” Well said- Most of this essay is well read and makes reasonable points, but now just ain’t the time. After November, then go at it, but for the next hundred odd days, better to be frenemies and ensure Small Hans faceplants hard 😆 I have multiple monitors controlled by Linux Mint Debian Edition (Cinnamon desktop). Sometimes when I wake my computer from sleep it only displays the login/password prompt over part of the display. You can see open applications and the desktop even without logging in, just by waking up the computer! This seems... bad? I am having a ton of trouble searching for solutions since I can't really properly name the problem I'm having.

@darius did you find it? could be this? https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon-screensaver/issues/406 Hello #FOSSY24! I have work this morning but I will be around in the afternoon, excited to meet people! "Public Work is a search engine for public domain content. Explore 100,000+ copyright-free images from The MET, New York Public Library, and other sources.” @hhra absolutely wonderful quote from Onyx > "we just found out about somethin we don't like out here, knowumsayin, called the BNP or summ'n like that, and we ain't havin it..." James C. Scott died recently (RIP) and I gotta say his Seeing Like A State (1998) is one of the best books I've ever read about the Fediverse

@darius it is only "one of" the best because The Art of Not Being Governed (Scott, 2009) is the best book about the Fediverse (this sort of description is why I refer to darts as Beyblades for adults, because at the end of the day you get the same fun of combining three parts that come in cool colors or whatever and affect the movement of the object) is there a word for the kind of word-reversing where you preserve letter pairs that form a functional unit? like “sdrawckab” (“ck” left unswapped) or “erewhon” (“wh” left unswapped) Anyone going to be in Portland, Oregon USA for FOSSY next week? I'm speaking about the Fediverse governance research I did with Erin Kissane (not @-ing so she doesn't get @-ed, as you do) https://2024.fossy.us/schedule/presentation/250/ I am also available for recommendations for things to do around town, such as: oscilloscope museum https://vintagetek.org/ @darius Oscilloscope museum?! I’m not going to FOSSY unfortunately, but thank you for letting me know this exists @darius I wish I could be there! It sounds like your talk will include some preliminary findings about what you have found in your interviews, or has that already been released in some form? |
@sugar giving me an idea to broadcast a public, unsecured WiFi signal that's just called " :) " just to see if that SSID alone causes people to go ".... Yeah you know what, no thanks"
@sugar one of those router login splash pages but it just says, "are you mad at me? 🔘yes 🔘no"
