A kitten of Kilkenny. There was a big colony of barn cats living outside the AirBnB where my wife and I stayed just outside of Kilkenny, Ireland. Most of them wanted nothing to do with me, but this little guy came trotting right up when I invited him to, and made it exquisitely clear that if I needed a cat, he was interested in applying for the position. When I picked him up, he settled right down in my arms and purred his little heart out. And when we left, he actually got into the car with us. I might have gone for it if it hadn't been for the thing about flying home on an airplane. I hope he's ok.

Throwback #caturday: this is my beloved Sam, who left me in 2016. He was one of the sweetest, friendliest cats I've ever known. People sometimes post pictures of cats lying like this, with text saying "Don't take this as an invitation to rub the belly." With Sam, it was ALWAYS an invitation. Good kitty, Sam.

Henry and Misha, from about three years ago when they were little enough to both fit in the top of the cat tree. These days Misha barely fits in it on his own.

There once were two #cats of Kilkenny,
Who each thought there was one #cat too many,
So they fought and they fit,
And they scratched and they bit,
Till, excepting their nails
And the tips of their tails,
Instead of two cats, there weren’t any.

Most people call this a limerick, but limericks are supposed to have only five lines, so perhaps it's a kilkenny. Anyway, in honor of this little poem, whatever it is, these whimsical cat sculptures are all over the downtown touristy bit of Kilkenny, Ireland.
