Same, though remember that the Fediverse is more than Mastodon: it's full of takes on the various concepts of social networks and blogs, including WordPress, Friendica, Pixelfed, Lemmy, and Peertube.

We have a whole ecosystem here, one which is always going to work better than centralized corporate-run networks will ever be able to, and yeah, we need to be all-in on that.

I'm totally with you on this, John. The signs are good so far: I have published several posts that aren't kittens and lols, and I haven't been banned from Mastodon yet. Although it is only my second day here.

@overholt Mastodon is the only social media I use. Never got into Twitter and Tiktok, ditched Facebook and Instagram in 2020, and got off Reddit earlier this year.

@overholt over the past year I’ve found such an interesting, smart, constructive set of people to follow here in the fediverse, On any given day I learn something useful, see something compelling, or am generally uplifted. And it’s been easy to filter out content that’s not working for me. Overall it’s been the best social media environment I’ve experienced to date. Wishing the same for you!

@overholt Same, with the caveat that I'm also open to moving to non-Mastodon fedi services like GoToSocial. Basically if grass-roots social media can't happen on the fedi or something like it then it won't happen anywhere, and I cannot with platform-hopping ahead of corporate shitslides anymore. If this doesn't work I'm sticking with blog, website, and chats.
