@marcan do multiplescreens on external adapter work on M1? Only reason I'm stuck with X11 on my laptop is because almost all docking stations don't work on it or there is problem with screen sharing in Teams. Wayland solves many problems but also is still missing functionality.

@exus1pl That's a driver issue, it has nothing to do with Wayland the protocol.

We don't support external displays at all yet and when we do it'll be one per port (no MST in this hardware, unless you use Thunderbolt) and it's all going to work as intended with Wayland.

@marcan What is "using Thunderbolt" here, practically speaking? Using Thunderbolt bandwidth/DMA for a DisplayLink-esque device? Since any external GPU is out of the question because of IOMMU limitations (if I understand correctly), I'm not sure how Thunderbolt fits into the picture for single-port-multi-display functionality...

...unless you mean like a Thunderbolt dock mirroring the single video stream across all of its outputs... but a basic MST hub will do that on its own anyway. Am I missing something?

@Skirmisher Thunderbolt tunnels DisplayPort, and these machines support two such tunnels per port. That's different from DisplayPort MST, which is not supported.

@exus1pl @marcan Ah, if that's a displaylink dock you can thank them for that. If your laptop has a proper USB-C DisplayPort alt mode port, that much will work fine though.
