Due to the way Quake II's gameAPI works the new remaster will be much more difficult to support and who knows what changes they'll do this time. I try to be positive about these efforts as ways to get console gamers to experience the titles, but that doesn't mean they are without criticism.
I'd always hoped they would involve the community more as that's why people are still remembering and playing these games to this day.
They did use FTEQCC when building the Q1 rerelease, but they never reached out to any of us until the game had shipped and it was mostly to get assistance in making Arcane Dimensions work. So more of our work benefiting their proprietary thing.
I did also reach out to one of the programmers, asking them which specifications they looked at when they implemented various community invented formats, and I did not receive a reply when they were answering everyone elses.
Unless I forgot something, that's all I am prepared to say at this time.
