I need you all to witness how excruciatingly long it takes for the AT&T app to go from cold start to the final state. 20 seconds.

@michaelsteeber after having used every major US carrier’s app, i have come to the conclusion that these idiots could not assemble a half decent app if their company depended on it. it’s insane. i still can’t get over how the ATT has third party *advertisements* in the app in which I already pay them @samhenrigold The app has to check first with someone from compliance whether you’re allowed to open it. 🙃 @samhenrigold Turns out you can pump up your session duration numbers if you only make network requests after the opening animation ends. Up and to the right, baby. @samhenrigold it’s not quite as outrageous but the F1 app annoys me with this every time. Worst thing is, they deliberately slowed the animation down since they added the salesforce logo on there @samhenrigold that unskippable splash animation reminds me of my UAE bank app. Yours is still worse tho @grishka every view transition will be that lens flare transition from keynote and it’ll take 2 seconds each way @samhenrigold pressing the back button during the transition would restart it because you can't possibly be in a hurry for this, you HAVE to appreciate the masterpiece in its entirety @grishka I think we should take a lot of inspiration from bowling alley animations. in terms of duration, insanity, quality, and frame rate https://youtu.be/Xa57i-n8lKU @MikeBeas thanks i picked it myself. it’s a burner SIM for a hotspot, i’m not super worried @a2 I was about to reply “I think banking and cell carriers unilaterally have the worst apps” but then I realized that most apps are terrible with a few exceptions. @samhenrigold my Xfinity app doesn't even seem to launch for 5 seconds, then it does a similar thing but nothing works for the first 30 seconds after it launches @samhenrigold logging in on their websites used to throw you through 7 redirections. They seem to have improved and just do a couple @samhenrigold it is seriously one of the least-performant apps I use regularly. No idea why anyone doesn’t care. Every page load is excruciating. @samhenrigold Their whole backend system is deeply cursed. It took me spendinf hours on their website and on the phone with them over most of a week to separate my parents lines into totally separate accounts |
@samhenrigold Verizon app is no better, in fact sometimes it’ll just hang on the launch screen until you force quit
