Some strange numbers worth looking into:

FediDB lists the WriteFreely instance at zb3.org has 9,188 users, 2.2k of them in the last month fedidb.org/network/instance/zb

Their is only one blog post up on the zb3 blog and no info on whos running it. I found a blog at zb3.org/betes21623/ thats just all auto generated spam posts. I think it might be safe to assume that almost all the 9k "users" are the same.

@liaizon Yeah, commonly these spammers just create a huge number of accounts and fill them up with junk posts. Need to build spam controls into #WriteFreely but a one-size-fits-all solution is hard -- on Write.as, everything is completely custom and hard-coded.

@matt have you looked into the Federated Moderation system that @dansup recently announced? Maybe yall could work together on something. Really seems like the time to figure out spam mitigation is fast approaching
