 @fediversereport realizing I may not understand how apple app store ads work, cause someone from out of the US is saying that TikTok is showing up for the search fediverse too. So maybe somehow the word fediverse is being generalized by the ad algo to mean social media app. and then these apps are just buying space for searches related to social media? I have no idea just thinking outloud. don't want to spread conspiracy if its actually much simpler  @liaizon @fediversereport “activitypub” shows a travel app and “pleroma” shows a teleprompter. I don’t think it’s strictly keyword based  @forteller oh yeah I agree its totally completely fucked of Apple to do such a thing in the first place. but sadly this is now just an accepted norm for these types of things in contemporary tech world @liaizon Apple wouldnt want fedi to succeed, because the ideology of fedi is going against apple ideology in terms of walled gardens. @liaizon @forteller Still though, Apple have been better than others in some areas. Stuff like this (advertising, tracking, etc). So it’s extra sad. This also reminds me pf how some gambling companies bought terms related to overcoming gaming addiction. 😬 Apple should just dump the entire ad system for apps and actually implement search that isn’t close to useless. cc @atomicpoet, as you just posted about truth social and might care to see this alarming situation  @liaizon I feel like liberals will use this to equate decentralized = Nazis argument. I have had them say the only reason to not use a “normal platform” is you want to say racist shit. I feel it needs a rebranding. Or does Elmo hold the trademark? #TurdSocial @liaizon @liaizon I’ve noticed a lot of “pro-GOP” apps, sites and ad placement lately blowing up. And a lot of it seems intentional to current events and not so subtle campaigning from those groups. Hell, even Steam is pushing a “Trump/DeSantis” profile background for some weird-ass reason. (Most online games will block or ban “armchair pundits” for bringing real world politics into game chat, regardless of right or left.)  Such a big tent that the first thing they did was turn off federation.
