For those who want to keep track of my plans regarding #Smithereen, I've made a "project" on github with most everything I want in the 1.0 release:

@grishka How would birthday reminders work? Only within Smithereen or would there be also a way for other servers to be used?

@yyp fully locally because birthday is merely an extra field in the actor. They will look exactly the same as they did in VK before the 2016 redesign.

Forgot one thing... Post and comment editing. This one is important because having to delete a post to fix a typo drives me crazy. IIRC only Friendica has it right now?

@felix lemmy is weird because no one was able to fully federate with it because it wants inReplyTo as an array. Or have you fixed this already?

@grishka v0.12 (to be released in the next weeks) will accept incoming coments with a single value for inReplyTo (but still send it as an array). from v0.13 it will use a single value for sending and receiving.
