I wrote about it on several ocassions, most recently here: https://fediverse.town/t/the-fediverse-saga-how-shall-we-conquer-our-challenges/137 But it boils down to a combined "Tragedy of the Commons" and the Laissez Faire attitude that is inherent in most grassroots communities. @humanetech Re "tragedy of the commons", are you familiar with Elinor Ostrom's work? Not really, but familiar she coined the term. I've been recommended some reading of her before, but it ended on my gigantic backlog of reading material (well, actually, due to continuous info overload it is only a theoretical backlog, as I will never read most of all the stuff on it) Yes, I know. This is why I believe that fairness needs force by the European Law. |
