The ADHD urge to lie about why you didn't do something because "my brain refused to start on it" doesn't make sense to a lot of neurotypicals

Even saying "I'm so sorry, I completely forgot" sounds marginally then "I'm so sorry, I didn't completely forget, I actually completely remembered. I thought about it the whole time and it steessed me out so much my brain built an insurmountable wall around it"

This happens to everyone.
Neurotypical included.
Well, I’m assuming I’m typical.
It’s happened to me…
Err…

@mo While I dont relate to this, I do have my own neurodivergencies that neurotypicals just dont understand.

"What are you thinking about?"
"Not jumping off this bridge"
"What? You want to jump?"
"No, I'm thinking about NOT jumping"
"Why?"
"Because I dont want to jump!"
"Then dont jump"
"Im trying!"

@mo @konomikitten because the truth sounds like a combination of laziness or insulting your boss/parent and you'd rather they think you're the former rather than the latter.

@mo I had one of these lately, partly because I didn't know where to start, and partly because I couldn't muster the focus to start it.

Turns out, someone was supposed to reach out to help me start it, dropped the ball, and I forgot about that.

@mo

Because it's exactly what I'm doing today. This minute. I've finally got a few days off to do stuff I need to do. Instead. I'm lying in bed thinking I should do it. But just thinking about doing it is too exhausting to actually get up to do it.

@mo I don’t have ADHD I have HDTV

Wanted to make an Alexa skill whom I could tell the talk, it would ask me for the first steps and remind me at the right time to do the first step.

You know what's the problem with making that Alexa skill ...
