@ElPamplina it's not allowing dissent on the fringes is part of the system. Chomsky explains this in detail if you ever bother reading him.
The goal is to control mainstream views which is done with a high degree of efficiency in the west.
Meanwhile, people such as Manning, Assange, and Snowden, who are perceived as being an actual threat are dealt with brutally.
