Salazar: Almost 40% of gen Z and millennials think that the communist manifesto is a better defense of freedom and equality than the declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson. There's hope yet for America.

You’re quoting a MAGA Republican ??? Hahahahahaha!!! Sure that’s a reliable source.

@inklings haha she probably did pull the numbers out of her ass, it does seem that younger people are increasingly rejecting capitalism though.

Not exactly surprising given that material conditions keep declining and the opportunities for a decent life are becoming scarce.

I wonder sometimes if it's clear how bizarre this is to us people unfamiliar with US politics. That you actually have somebody speaking of US exceptionalism in the positive sense. I know nothing about this Maria Salazar, but I'm guessing from the name + Florida, she's a cuban-US descendant, but possibly never been to cuba? The anti-cuba sentiment in that "exile" population, sometimes feels like it must be something akin to anti soviet sentiment in say, Poland.

I mean one is a pamphlet declaring that freedom is for all and has material conditions that can be met to see it to fruition.

The other is a collection of vibes declaring "independence" and "freedom" but only for the landed white man.

Yogthos

and that's probably where she got the statistic from making it all the more hilarious

@yogthos it's also very natural to read Thomas Paine followed by Karl Marx...
