#Smithereen update: the newsfeed now shows when your friends add friends and join groups. This feature is very important for a social network focused on communication between people (as opposed to people and celebrities/brands/meme pages/whatever). Actually, VK still has this, except it's buried in a not very noticeable "updates" tab.
