@darius it's fantastic, probably the best real P:T successor anyone's ever attempted (and I actually liked torment: tides of marinara more than just about anyone) > torment: tides of marinara great now I'm hungry I was also thinking of it as a Quest for Glory successor, given the humor and the mix of stats-rpg + adventure game @darius ALSO some of my favourite post Soviet writing since early Pelevin. a lot of all timers in 2019 tbh *reads the wikipedia page* OK, you got my attention. I'm always initially wary of games where you play as cops or soldiers, but it sounds like this is not copaganda @technomancy it definitely lets you roleplay as someone who wants to cease being a cop as soon as possible @uglymachine I know! Courtney played it immediately and I was like "hey that looks good" and then I just never got around to it @uglymachine tbh I'm really glad to be experiencing it for the first time with full voice acting because it's REALLY GOOD @darius I haven't played the final cut yet, even! I'm a little bummed because I edited a line during voice acting sessions and I am VERY proud that me deciding one character calling another a "piece of shit" made it into the game lmao. I'm sure it's still there but, alas, my original version.............. @darius it's been my experience as well. I need to get back to it, too. I'm great at not finishing games. @darius definitely can't think of a game i more enjoyed starting, ever. just amazingly engrossing noir inner-monologue. heck, even before the game really started! i got to building my "character sheet" or whatever & had to take a break, i was so floored by how awesome what i was seeing was. @darius Ugh, I hate timers. Picked up a couple of recent city builders and their campaigns are all "do this before 250 turns". No thanks I'll take 1000 turns. But Outer Wilds is special. No relation to Disco besides late 2019 release date. The less you know about it the better. And yes, there is a timer of sorts and it does put pressure on you, but it's probably the best use of such pressure in games to date. It's the type of game you won't stop thinking about, even a year later. |
@darius i think it's very interesting! i have watched my friend play it a bunch
