Since there's no "read in Remarkable" add-on for Firefox, I now read longform articles from the web by using the "ePub creator" add-on to save an article as a .epub file and then upload it to an "articles to read" folder on my tablet.

@darius ooh, nice! i’ve been using a pocket client (pocket2remarkable) on the remarkable but it doesn’t handle a lot of photos and other stuff that would in theory survive in an epub. i’ll def be trying that. @r4v5 yeah, I thought about pocket2remarkable because I use Pocket as well, but I don't love having to fuss with custom software. (happy to have the option, though) @darius I do "print to pdf". So I don't need an extra addon. And then upload to remarkable. Is the epub format superior? @xuv I like that this addon automatically strips out UI elements like sidebars but maybe print to pdf does that too. You do get to tweak font and font size and not have to use the "align page" widget with epub @darius oh right. I see. I forgot an extra step I add. I use Firefox "reader mode" (which strips everything but text, almost) then print to pdf but I'll try the epub addon. @darius do you use anything fancy for the upload? I'm on Ubuntu so I'm looking around for something to replace the win/mac apps. @darius I see it runs a little web server when connected via USB, which works for me. I'm very happy with this so far, and it's a delight to find things like the wiki https://remarkablewiki.com/start @darius definitely still using my old Kobo Aura HD a lot more than expected, now that I have the reMarkable2. because the Aura HD has Pocket integration. definitely some day want a more DIY, in my control solution. but for now, so easy to get article on the Kobo. |
