@dragoncrown For half of these I don't even know what they exactly mean. Never heard "science is real". Is " Her body her choice" about sex or about abortion? What exactly do you understand by "no human is illegal"? @dragoncrown fully agree with all except the last two. Science is a tool not a truth, and nothing is everything even though kindness is very important @dragoncrown I like the overall compassionate idea of your statements! But I'd like to add some extra wording / alternative wording ^_^ For the 1st statement: Transgender people have beautiful longings and deep needs, just like non-transgender people do. And they'd definitely like their needs to be heard and taken into account, just like non-transgender people do. Let's open our hearts to hear the beauty of everyone. What do you think/feel about this wording? Does it capture what you meant? @dragoncrown I tend to ignore "boost if..." posts automatically, but this is different. :) @dragoncrown The only thing I have a slight disagreement with would be the second to last one "Science is real" since I am an epistemic relativist. However, I act on the knowledge of science being real because that is what is true according to my reality and experience. So... I effectively agree and to disagree would be a bit pedantic. @dragoncrown Thanks for this—I've seen a few comments along the lines of engagement farming, BUT this is actually something that had been preying on my mind. I've felt sorely tempted to poll along the lines of session zero/safety tools too as another barometer of how much my own, and this spaces, values align. For the purpose of accounting: I follow you, but didn't see it when you posted it. I *did* see a reply, and found it that way. @dragoncrown what if I agree, but don't like to participate in experiments if I don't know the goal or the methodology? ;-) @dragoncrown You're basically saying "everyone who don't boost don't agree with this". Like others, I don't like being told what to do or what to think, and I won't boost, repost, twit or twat for being told to. @dragoncrown I accept all except the "No humans are illegal" as a Turkish citizen, illegal immigrants causes a lot of troubles for both the citizens and the legal immigrants. I know US immigration policy is a bit obscure, but you at least need a proper background check or bad people will roam free. Also most of these bad people gide themselves as fake families so you can't know who is good or not, creating more racism in the end. @dragoncrown Although, I think kindness is an important behaviour which I agree we all should work towards, saying that it is "everything" is too naive I think. This might be because I don't necessarily understand what you mean by the statement. But surely there are other behaviours and elememts of human nature that is also important. For example I think self-reflection and telling the truth i also important. Thoughts? 🙏 @dragoncrown True story. By 2016 we had gotten to a place where we didn't use the term "illegal alien" because we had become better people. Somehow, six years later, that term is back in common use. @dragoncrown Shouldn't all lives matter. and if only certain people's lives matter because of skin color isn't that considered racism? And we have laws. So if you break the law you have committed an illegal act. don't you agree with that? @dragoncrown Re: "science is real", I can point you to a lot of psychology papers that no-one seems to be able to reproduce… Pardon my pedanticism. I'm almost certain I agree with what you *mean*. But. @dragoncrown I really can't fathom why some people make such a huge deal about it, just move on with you life and let people live theirs. @dragoncrown Useful experiment from my POV. I read all the replies and blocked two people. Slightly surprised. |
@owenblacker I'd do it but Mastodon is rapidly becoming unmanageable because of the numbers of scattergun boosters. I know I can disable it for individuals, but it's hard to do when there is useful signal inamongst the noise.
