@darius Heh, I didn't know you could turn boosts off.

I look at the home and federated timelines as a river. O occasionally look at it and if there's something interesting, great. But things that have flowed by...well they are just down the river. ;-)

@gedvondur oh I treat it as a river too, it's just for me with boosts turned on the river isn't even something I can wade in for a minute

@darius I think following <100 people helps :)

FiXato

@darius
I turn boosts off for specific people, which makes it a lot more manageable. :)

@darius

god there’s so fucking much and it’s so much better with them completely OFF.

@darius I like it bc Im not always following someone a mufo is so I get to see and sometimes learn cool new things. Also, breaks up the monotony when a large group latches onto a meme and takes over the TL

@darius if I didn't have boosts on sometimes two consecutive posts in my timeline would be from your kiseki bot 😂

Your friendly 'net denizen

@darius I selectively disable boosts from people who boost too frequently for my taste. That seems to keep things manageable.

Merkaba

@darius Is that an admin setting? Or can I as a user choose to hide boosts from all the people I follow?

It would definitely help me trim my timeline by quite a bit!

Darius Kazemi

@merkaba yes on Mastodon you can click the preferences widget at the top of your home timeline

Merkaba

@darius Ah that explains it. I tend to view it mainly via the Toot app on my phone. Thanks though!
